Right. Age alone wouldn't kill an extended business cycle. It's almost like flipping a coin. If you land on heads 10 times in a row you'll start thinking more and more that your next flip has to be tails. No one knows what will happen.

The 2019 Self-only HSA contribution limit is $3,500. So I'm assuming your HDHP covers DW/family as well since you mention an amount of $5,000 you can contribute. The HSA I have through my employer is with Optum, employer pays the account fee. The investment options and expense ratios are reasonable....

There are numerous risk assessment questionnaires out there to help you determine an appropriate asset allocation. From what I've seen they all contain the same or similar style questions. Be honest in your answers and they should help you dial in an appropriate AA.

I would assume at age 67 and older you stay at 100% TDF, according to this suggestion. Correct. Interesting article, although I couldn't help but laugh when I read about the Small Cap Value acting as a "booster" fund. I always say the word "booster" in my head with an Arnold Schwarzenegger accent.....
