Re: HEDGEFUNDIE's excellent adventure Part II: The next journey

As someone who started their adventure recently, I’m strongly leaning towards just pulling out and waiting until TMF comes back to earth. Maybe once it hits 28. It’s odd that if just feels too risky because of the bond portion. Going to try to short tmf until January too. What are some temporary alt...

Re: HEDGEFUNDIE's excellent adventure Part II: The next journey

Idk, I couldn’t get myself to stick with MV, couldn’t of been further off. Absolutely loaded on TMF just in time for the drop. Really wish I started with the standard AA. To answer your question, I think something like an 8% fluctuation from the monthly signal warrants an adjustment. I wouldn’t thi...

Re: Riding HEDGEFUNDIE’s excellent adventure

Any thoughts from those of you doing AAA regarding the current high allocation of tmf. I’m doing minimum variance and the current recommended percentage of tmf is the highest it’s been in 10 years.

Re: HEDGEFUNDIE's excellent adventure Part II: The next journey

For those of you using MV or IV methods, is it concerning that by mid month the AAA can be drastically different than what was recommended at the beginning of the month? This month, using qld/tmf with MV we started at 61% qld which shifted to recommending 21% qld. Do any of you make exceptions for s...

Re: HEDGEFUNDIE's excellent adventure Part II: The next journey

No I hadn’t downloaded the file. I’ve been referencing the PV filled out by another user earlier in this thread. One 21 day minimum variance and the other 21 day inverse volatility.

Re: HEDGEFUNDIE's excellent adventure Part II: The next journey

I must be in a trial period because it seems I can see the daily aa recommendation. My question is, do you do anything with that information? Are you making adjustments daily? Only using the indicator at the end of the month? Or does it depend on the percentage change. There is a huge difference in...

Re: HEDGEFUNDIE's excellent adventure Part II: The next journey

For the 21 day inverse volatility model, I had a question regarding the timing of AA. When do you change the AA? End of the month? The confusion is, for example, on PV the sept allocation for this model is 44/56 tqqq/tmf. Then i see a signal date on 9/18 that has a new allocation 23/77 tqqq/tmf. Is ...

Adding to investment funds and capital gains

I have investments in a Vanguard taxable account and have been adding at least $2000 a month. Every time I add money to a fund, am I restarting the clock for reaching long-term capital gains tax? I've was doing dual momentum trading in the taxable account before I realized the tax consequences and a...
