Re: Tesla [car] purchase any significant downside?

Downside risk is that Elon's FSD/robotaxi plan becomes reality and that there is no need to purchase the vehicle.

Re: Car Batteries

Not hard data but good story. While waiting on a tire rotation I started chatting with guy, asked him what he did. Said that he worked for a major lead acid battery manufacturer located here. So I asked him who they produced batteries for and what he would buy for his own vehicles since he manufactu...

Re: Create a shareable calendar for iOS and Android?

When I create and share a link to a new google calendar and view the link that I just shared I see all my OTHER calendar events also on the newly created calendar. Do the others see this as well or just me?

I still have my Chrysler one ounce silver "coin" from visiting the dealership 35 years ago.

Re: Cross-country trip via Amtrak

I agree with daheld. We rode the train from Boston to Kansas City (23 hours) and had a sleeper car (recommended). Figured out that about 7 hours (Chicago to Kansas City) was about all we could handle in the future. Totally glad we did it and I am sure there are better, more scenic routes. One thing ...

Re: Random person gets mail to my house

Or as postal inspector described to me that someone will send mail to your address in another name and at some point file a change of address that directs all mail their way. Not sure how successful this could be used since the postal service would send a letter verification to both the old and new ...

Re: Road trip Des Moines to Omaha to Kansas City

New question.... Is it worth a trip to go out of the way to see Iowa City, the Amana colonies and Cedar Rapids Or Pella? We liked Amana, Mt Washington and Iowa City. Amana and Mt Washington are just a few hours each while Iowa City down by the university was great and we spent a couple days there.

Re: Road trip Des Moines to Omaha to Kansas City

On the way to Kansas City on I-35 just on the Iowa/KS border is a very small town called Lamoni. They have an Amish Country Store and welcome center right off the interstate. Anyway, they have a Maid-Rite inside along with Amish crafts and food. Try the Maid-Rite for lunch, you won't go wrong. Bette...

Re: Dealing with HOA Notice

Why do you need a window air conditioner? I assume that the homes all have central air conditioning; otherwise the homeowners association would not ban window air conditioners. Seems like it's time to get rid of the window air conditioner and make the necessary adjustments to the central air condit...

Re: Auto Insurance Deductibles

With our insurance company there is little premium difference between the higher deductibles.

Our insurance is bundled from one company and they require higher auto liability coverage to get lower umbrella liability premiums, essentially robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Re: Looking for recommendations on a cordless electric mower

Purchased the Ego self propelled in June. Well thought out machine. Absolutely love it but I agree that it would be too heavy to get down a flight of stairs on a regular basis unless you are into crossfit :D Looking on E-Bay they have those little 14" Sunjoe mowers but they don't look like they...
