Re: Is this a good time to invest as stock market is all time high?

Some of the market is at an all time high but a lot of sectors and even stocks are in a significant correction. Many iconic dividend aristocrats are even 50% down now. Dig in and do your research and youll find the values you seek.

Re: Where is the money going?

S0......With the FAANGs and tech dropping I have been watching curiously where that money would go to. If people are selling off one thing where are they putting that money to? Everyone is so quick to roll out their pre-formatted boiler plate answers that no one is actually addressing what OP asked...

Essentially, everything has been going up for the past nine years. Why would it surprise you that asset prices can also move down together?
Asking to learn here. My education tells me money doesn’t dissolve completely yet rather transfers locations while attaining or losing some value.

Where is the money going?

I am a student of all this but with all students I am always learning. Especially with past performance never equally future results. Re: All-In VTSAX

Personally I see great value in China growth over the next few decades so I’m invested in it. I believe China growth potential outweighs the us potential. If I invested using your logic I’d be in 100% China. Seems scary? If so then diversify. Determine the percentage of us fund u have complete faith...

Re: Got a Question for the Experts Panel at the Bogleheads Conference?

Hi and thanks for asking. As a teacher of Personal Finance, I have always taught my students that long term financial gain will occur via stock bonds mix. I use the rolling 30 year backtesting to portray the value on investing long term. The students' eyes widen. However, given algorithmic trading,...

Re: Questions about my perspective on bond funds

Thank you as always for the vision and info guys. So I am at the point I am still not sure where to put my bond asset allocation monies into. From a long term perspective nothing looks great long term. Its like the gains on bonds and small yields are lost to rising inflation making it a wash or mini...

Re: Questions about my perspective on bond funds

So many threads discuss rising rates bad but it’s a good time to stock up on bonds in my perspective. Is my perspective incorrect? Rates are not rising, they are holding. Morgan Stanley has forecasted just a few days ago that they anticipate 10Y yields to fall to 2.75 by end of 2018 and the yield c...

Re: How/where to allocate new money?

Think I will just put the $s into whichever fund is down each month. At least one should be down at any given time. Might not be down much, but will still have to be down unless it is prfectly balanced. I just ran my numbers based on current portfolio value and do have a little space left to fill i...

Re: How/where to allocate new money?

My actual AA rarely matches my desired AA exactly. I put new money into whatever asset class is below it's target. +1 I’m always tempted to put it in the asset that’s in a decline too like my EM down 18% now. That’s a discount on it and hard to pass. I may not be correct in the BH mentality doing t...

Re: Questions about my perspective on bond funds

Owning bonds for decades I can def see the house burned down perspective. If we owned zero bonds and were just getting in now would the perspective change? would one begin to think the model we currently view as bonds be fundamentally changing? As in not the same investment it was touted to be when ...

Re: Questions about my perspective on bond funds

With this Mindset:

Total bond market-inter-down just a little 1-2%
Long term bond index-down 5plus%

? What makes more sense for value investing?

Questions about my perspective on bond funds

My minds perspective sees the following in regards to bond funds after reading too many forum threads on them. Rising rates have dropped bond fund share prices-I see this as a firesale and want to buy the dips now for future growth. Buy total bond fund as its share price is a “value” that will long ...

Re: Any Dry Powder Strategies?

I also have dry powder waiting for a market correction. It’s a chunk of cash I was given this week. I’ve maxed everything the boglehead way so this is extra play money. Don’t need ef etc.

Where should put this dry powder while I wait?
