Where to take RMD's from?

We are transitioning to a 3 fund portfolio. As we have Roth as well as Traditional and 457 accounts, it seems to me that it would simplify things to concentrate specific categories into one of these three options. In order to minimize the amount of RMD's that we are required to take, it it best to p...

Re: Calculating RMD

My husband's 457 used the wrong factor when computing his RMD. They used his current age rather than what his age will be later this year. It was a hassle getting it corrected. If it weren't for a good stable value rate of 3.5% I would encourage him to roll it all over to Vanguard as dealing with hi...

Re: Valic rollover problem

He was receiving the past year's RMD on a monthly basis and has completed the required distribution for 2018 (based on 2017 year end value). In trying to find our way around Valic's web site earlier this evening, we saw that their office was still open, called and were told that the check was mailed...

Our previous rollovers from various sources were initiated by the receiving institutions and completed without difficulty. After listening to the spiel from the Valic guy as...

Re: RMDs in a falling market?

We are struggling with this in regard to how to handle withdrawals for the coming year. If dividends and capital gains from our traditional IRA's are deposited directly into our checking account---and the total amount at year end is sufficient to meet the RMD amount---would that work? Is that a reas...

Re: Vanguard Brokerage Account

I called Vanguard today. It is as mentioned above---I will have to manually transfer each deposit over from the brokerage account to my designated mutual fund or I can set up a monthly automatic withdrawal, to be initiated by Vanguard. What I would have preferred is to set up the automatic payments ...

Vanguard Brokerage Account

I have IRA and individual taxable accounts with Vanguard. Recently I opened a joint account in my and my husband's names as a place to put excess funds. I chose Vanguard because the expenses are lower than the group where we have the majority of our assets but now I am thinking that the inconvenienc...
