I agree.
1. The vigorish charged by US banks for Euros is obscene.

Some must haves for travelling to Europe

In the last 6 months, we spent 7 weeks in: Italy, France, Belgium, and The Netherlands. 1. We used very little cash. About €100 overall (Some taxi drivers are jerks. We had one say: "today is 'no card day'".). We used a debit card twice to pay for transit tickets as a PIN was required. We used physical credit cards about 10 times. 90+% of all payments were with our iPhones or Apple Watch. 2. Walking shoes that have soles that work well on cobblestones. That means thicker, stiffer soles. We walked 4-7 miles per day and cute tourist areas with pedestrian streets are typically cobbles. 3. Some outlets in Italy require 3-prong plugs (plug type L). 4. Bring aspirin. In Spain, you can only buy from a farmacia at 25¢/tablet. Italy is alm...

Mephisto for a sturdy walking shoe. Expensive and worth it. Wore mine all over Portugal. Made in France and Portugal.
Giesswein for a lightweight wool runner that stands up to cobblestones. Wear them every day. Right now, wearing in France. Made in Austria.

I now travel with only the Giesswein runners as I pack light and only take/wear one pair of shoes.

I love this color Image
