2nd wave of covid-19 and stocks

It seems like the "2nd wave" of covid19 is coming as infection rates are on the rise. How will this effect the stock market?

Another dip or just business as usual?

Re: 401k LifePlan or just straight S&P 500

Most likely the 2055 life plan is 80-ish percent equity anyway. The question is how you will react with a big market drop. Selling at the bottom and buying back in with a tax deferred account is a disaster. For people likely to do that, the target date fund is better. If you are not one of those pe...

401k LifePlan or just straight S&P 500

I'm looking at the 401k lifeplan's that are offered by my company and right now I'm in the 2055 lifeplan. But, they also offer the Vanguard S&P 500 index fund and I'm thinking, why not just dump my pre-tax 401k money in there. It will have a higher return in the long-run (based off what I'm seeing f...

Re: Where can I park some cash for 6-12 months?

Do Money Markets not work well? I'm not well versed in them, but I thought they made some amount and you can withdraw anytime?

Where can I park some cash for 6-12 months?

I plan on buying real estate within the next year, possibly earlier. Where can I park my cash in the meantime to make a bit of money? My Ally Savings account yields 0.8% annually. Can I do better than that while keeping it liquid (or liquid within 6 months)?

What to premium to S&P?

Re: FZROX vs. FXAIX [Fidelity ZERO Total Market Index vs. 500 Index]

The biggest downside of the zero funds is that they are not portable and can only be held at Fidelity. This means if you were to ever want to move to another broker, you would have to sell which would be a taxable event, as opposed to ETFs or more portable mutual funds that can be transferred in-ki...

Hi, re-activating this thread. Why is FZROX good in terms of taxes in an IRA as opposed to a regular brokerage account? What are the tax implications of FZROX?

Commercial Umbrella Insurance for LLC

Hi all, new to bogleheads so I'm glad to be here (read the book a while back). Quick question, does anyone here have a good recommendation for umbrella insurance for commercial property under an LLC? I have 3 properties under two LLCs and I thought it'd be a good idea to have umbrella insurance. Any...
