Re: Thinking of buying a boat during pandemic – am I CRAZY?

Thanks all ! FWIW - I am in a boat club and have been the past few years. It's been good but has drawbacks -- namely you need to reserve ahead of time and you can never be spontaneous about just taking it out for a spin. The boat club has made me want to be an owner even more. It is good food for th...

Thinking of buying a boat during pandemic – am I CRAZY?

My wife and I have been going back and forth on purchasing a boat. We recently bought a new lakeside house, and I have been wanting a boat for a *long long* time. Am I crazy to think about this given the current economic climate? The boat I’m looking at is listed at 65k, and I’ve been going back and...

Re: Where to stay in Naples, Italy and along Amalfi coast

We stayed in the Grand Hotel in Sorrento... it was fabulous and I'd highly recommend it and did a day trip to Positano. You can do a day trip to Capri, or plan to stay there.

We didn't make it to Naples, although the train station was enough.

Re: Deferred Comp good idea?

I have the same option at my Megacorp. For several years - I chose not to participate - as I was too worried about the risk. I'd heard the horror story of a senior partner at Arthur Andersen "losing it all". I now participate - however - I don't go "all in"... I think the key is ...

Re: African Safari: Worth it or Hype?

Worth It. Did the trip with my wife several years ago... went to Arusha, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Serengeti. Camped in the Serengeti. Experience of a lifetime. Also trekked Kilmanjaro. I think choice of tour company, and itinerary is key. You also need to have a spirit of adventure... it's not a cr...

Re: Need help firing my financial advisor

Just did this myself with Morgan Stanley a few weeks ago... I used Vanguard PAS, and they took care of the transfer. It's possible to do this through Vanguard without PAS. You begin it on the Vanguard "side" set up the transfer and you're off to the races. I sent an email to my adviser onc...

Thanks so much for all the responses ! Definitely going for it on the big move to get out of the AUM and 1%. Next up is building towards managing it all myself. I'll get there !

Opinions on current Morgan Stanley portfolio - and move to Vanguard PAS

Hello BH ! New user here - although I've been lurking for the past week. I wish I knew about this years ago. I'm thinking very hard of moving my portfolio from Morgan Stanley to Vanguard, and potentially putting it under Personal Advisory Service. Have a good relationship with my adviser but no long...
