www.thistothat.com was very helpful. My problem/application is to join a brass shaft to a wooden propeller for wooden whirligigs. I make whirligig. I would paste a picture of a whirligig, but I do not know how to insert on this website.
www.thistothat.com reads to use J-B Weld or "metal epoxy" (epoxy designed to glue metals). I like the idea of inserting a maple plug and thread maple.

Why are interest rates and bond yield so low ???

Why are interest rates and bond yield so low ???
I suppose determinants of interest rates and bond yield are:
1. investors transfer of money from equities to bonds in the last couple of years
2. Federal Reserve's "Fed Rate"
3. low or no inflation

I suppose "1. investors transfer of money from equities to bonds in the last couple of years" is the greatest contributor to low interest rates and bond yield.
I suppose Federal Reserve actions has the least affect of the 3 listed determinants.

I am building a 12' X 20' workshop/shed in my backyard. I insulated the walls & ceiling. I am in the process of installing the sheetrock ceiling. Should I use wood paneling or sheetrock for the walls ??? A couple of people have told me to use paneling on the walls for increased durability, and low cost, and rapid construction. I personally like sheetrock for the more formal appearance. I think paneling looks cheap.

kept by the promoter or sold to his family; bad prospects

I am a petroleum exploration geophysicist. I have a MS in geophysics (oil exploration) and I worked in the industry 15 years. To evaluate the proposal you could hire a geologist or geophysicist who studies/works the geographic area of this prospect. This evaluation might take 1 to 3 days wages. I think your odds are around 1,000 to 1 that this is a good deal for you. Usually a good prospect is kept by the promoter or sold to his family; bad prospects are sold to the public.

Re: Begin IRA or 401K withdrawals instead of begin SS

SSCRITIC, Thanks. You are right, I was wrong. I was thinking the 6.67% reduction years where the early years, but they are the late years. The reduction is 5% in the early years. If you are already 63, the increase in your benefit from waiting will be until 64 (from 80% to 86.667%, 6.67% more) a 8.33% increase+COLA. until 65 (from 80% to 93.333%, 13.33% more) a 16.67% increase+COLA. until 66 (from 80% to 100%, 20% more) a 25% increase+COLA. Time value of money is partial accounted for by COLA. The immediate decision is whether to wait till 64 YO. I, nor hardly anyone, gets a garantee 8.33%+COLA return. I have no idea how to proxy that one. I think the G Fund is equivalent to money market fund. Government Securities Investments. The "G" Fund is invested in very short-term U.S. Treasury securities (bonds) guaranteed by the federal government. These are unique government securities, backed by the full faith and credit of the US Government, available only through the G Fund. This is equivalent to a high-yield stable value fund, so there is no possibility of a loss of principal, and there is no risk of loss. As set forth by law, the interest pai...

a) Vanguard Emerging Markets Stock Index Fund (15%)
b) Vanguard Treasury Funds (15%)
c) Vanguard Inflation-Protected Securities Fund (15%)

15% EM is the extreme risk, and 30% Inflation-Protected Securities and Treasury Funds are extremely safe.

I personally would prefer
1) Use Total Bond Market Index in lieu of Inflation-Protected Securities and Treasury Funds.

As a side note, driver's and predestrian's automobile insurance companies refuse to pay, anything until you have a lawyer force them to pay. Typically lawyer collect 1/3 of what is recovered from insurance company. Medical insurance paid immediately, but later gets re-imbursed by auto insurance company.
