You are lucky to have a flat fee. $60/year seems like a lot now, but take solace that your account balance will rapidly outpace that. The fee for my 403b is 0.84% and this is down from 1.15% when I started with the company 13 years go!

I recently got my oil changed after putting it off for several months. I used my mechanic instead of one of the quick lube places. I called and made an appointment. I dropped the key in the drop box before they opened. They let me know when it was done and I asked them to leave the key someplace out...

I've never been an employer, only employee. An employee has to contribute to one's 401k by end of calendar - at least that way back when I was employed. I believe that in an individual 401k you have until your tax filing deadline to contribute. Presumably if Vanguard is still allowing contributions...

We moved to west central FL from the DC area several years ago. It has been a lot cheaper for us here primarily due to housing and income tax.
