New Job: Fideilty 401K Choices

Hello, I recently started a new job that provides a 401K through Fidelity. I had a 403B at Vangaurd at my previous job. I utilized a traditional 3 fund portfolio for this account (VTSAX:65% VTIAX:25% VBTLX:10%). I am very comfortable with this AA and would like to replicate it as much as possible wi...

I would encourage you to look into Clinical Laboratory Science, especially if you enjoy biology and the other sciences. It is a behind the scenes medical profession with little to no patient contact but pay mirrors that of RNs. I have been working as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist for about 2 year...

Re: Should I Go With Vanguard PAS After This Recommendation?

Apparently due to your time horizon (75 years as PAS assumes age 100 longevity), they are recommending 100% stocks. You could certainly make a case for this allocation, but it really depends on your appetite for risk. Would you want to sell out of the market it this portfolio dropped by 40-50% ($70...

Re: Should I go with Vanguard PAS After This Recommendation?

Looks fine to me, assuming your investing time line is north of 10 years. Just realize the stock market will lose significant value several times during your investing career and DON'T panic sell when this happens. I suggest you can do the investing without the 0.3% drag from the Vanguard PAS servi...

Re: 25 Year Old Overwhelmed With Inheritance. Please Help!

In my experience involving two estates with many beneficiaries and taxable assets in a trust, the custodians wanted all the paperwork at the same time, not one form dribbling in each week from another beneficiary. Although in my cases, the RMDs were taken before death, I believe the RMD has to be t...

You are fine so far as transferring amounts like that. This assumes when you say cash that you mean a check or an electronic transfer. Re: Gift Tax Question?

If he gives you the $25k, he then has to file form 709. There is no Federal tax. Look at your state to see if it has any gift tax. If it's split as you mention, then no form filing is required. Putting that amount of money into Vanguard won't even be noticed. If it were $25 million, they might look...

Is your stepmother on board? Reading between the lines, it doesn’t look like it. If she is not adversarial, you could all craft a solution with the estate attorney.
