Seems most have gotten over their volatility jitters. S&P, DOW and NAS all down over 1%, 10 yr bond up nearly 3% today.

Yet not a peep in here. Kudos!

Good indicator (not a peep in here) of how people are feeling. I actually logged-in just to check...and...nope.

They are close, but not the same. You may consider adding another fund to the S&P 500 fund to approximate the total market fund. See here:

Re: Question about Asset Allocation

I just used Morningstar's X-ray to check my asset allocation and was surprised with the results below. It now feels like I am way tilted towards Large Value/Core/Growth compared to the Total Stock Market. It's probably because I have VINIX (Vanguard Institutional Index) which makes up 26% of my por...

I am also in the market for a new crossover or mini SUV. Any thoughts about Infiniti crossovers?

Re: Best way to move money to the US for investing

Hi guys, I have been researching on this but cannot find a solid answer. I wonder if anyone has any experience moving a lump some of money from outside of the US to a US bank or a brokerage company like Vanguard.I will be selling a piece of property outside of the US (and will therefore be taxed ab...

Re: VAIPX/TIPS: To sell or not to sell

TIPS are bonds, more specifically Treasury "bonds," They have the same default risk as any other Treasuries. They are sensitive to changes in real rather than nominal interest rates, just as other bonds are sensitive to nominal interest rates. The deal in owning TIPS is that the Treasury will incre...

Re: VAIPX/TIPS: To sell or not to sell

Thanks everyone. lack_ey, I'm just curious what the other 78% of your bonds are and why you're concerned about this 22%. Are you even exposed to that much interest rate risk? Even if so, it doesn't really matter at this point in early-mid accumulation. Here are my bond funds: Vanguard GNMA - 64.5% V...

Re: VAIPX/TIPS: To sell or not to sell

Thank you. I am definitely a beginner. Welcome to the forum! I don't know the answer to your question but I think you need to back up a little bit. #1 what is your desired asset allocation? 70/30 or 80/20? The answer to this question should have nothing to do with what you do with this TIPS fund. My...

Re: VAIPX/TIPS: To sell or not to sell

I just edited my post to reflect the percentage of VAIPX, it's about 22% of my "bond" fund. I stopped contributing in January and now thinking of just selling and buying stocks or VFSUX. :?

VAIPX/TIPS: To sell or not to sell

Hello everyone! I have been a recent boggle head convert for about a year now and have been browsing through this very informative forum. I have usually been able to answer most of my questions by searching for previous topics but now, I am faced with a few questions about TIPS the I can't find any ...
