Re: Chewy IPO

Going through reviews of similar products on Amazon, I typically find Amazon reviews on dog food that talk about how the bag was damaged, or the food smelled bad or looked different. I've been hesitant to order dog food off Amazon due to how many of their other items have been counterfeited. Look it...

Is it a soy burger or something?

Just make your burgers with full fat beef, eg. 20% Chop up a little bacon and blend it in for even more flavor :D
Beyond Burgers have 0 soy. Mostly pea protein.

Tried them last week---was impressed.

Re: Fair price for new Subaru Outback?

I would check out Truecar.

I found it very useful in price comparisons.

Just use a fake phone number or you'll be inundated with phone calls

Re: Recycling Different Plastics

With China's new requirement of no more than 0.5% contamination, most recyclers in the US can't even qualify to ship to China. India is still accepting this, but at a much lower price. As it was, China had been burning over 75% of the plastic that reached them. So, although I'm a big recycling advo...

Re: switching 2018 traditional contributions to Roth?

There are also income limits for contributing to a Roth. These are close to (or perhaps the same as) the income limits for deducting a traditional IRA contribution. So if you are not eligible for a deduction you may not be eligible for a Roth contribution. Also note that you only get one chance at ...

Yes, call the brokerage where your IRA is held and tell them you want to recharacterize your 2018 contribution from traditional to Roth.
Thank you. Recharacterize. That was exactly the word I was needing. :sharebeer

switching 2018 traditional contributions to Roth?

I underestimated my income this year ( had a side-gig that was more lucrative than I thought), and I made too much to qualify for the traditional IRA deduction. I had been splitting traditional/Roth contributions about 50/50 previously, but now it seems the best bet is to go exclusively Roth. My que...

Re: Engagement Ring (Affordable)

I opted to get lab created gemstones--sapphires. Wife loved this idea, as the thought of wearing a "blood diamond" was a huge turn off to her. Not having to buy a diamond was also a huge cost saver to me. I was able to get the engagement ring for 1,200 and the wedding ring for a around 1,500. Looks ...

Keeping it. It's very easy to keep your information secure. Don't fill out those personality tests that pop up everytime. Don't install apps. Don't allow apps access to your page. People willingly gave their information up.

Hulu has all 15 seasons of the medical drama ER now. That's over 330 episodes
+1

My wife had never seen the show before--she loves it. I forgot how good of a show it was.

Re: An HSA Account as an Investment Vehicle

Hoping someone might be able to answer my question about an HSA--

I have an HSA, my wife has her own insurance and does not have an HSA. Can I save my wife's receipts for her eligible medical expenses and then withdraw those from my HSA at a later time?

Re: How to get child's skin in the game for college?

Long time lurker, but this post made me want to put in my 2 cents. I graduated from college with my Master's degree 7 years ago. I had "skin in the game." My parents paid for my car insurance and cell phone. I paid tuition, room and board, food, books, etc. My parents offered to pay these things, an...
