Re: Recourse for "Stolen" Money

I sold a vehicle on craigslist earlier this year for over $20,000. In the add I posted cash only. Since I am a snowbird and not where I normally bank I had talked to the local Wells Fargo branch about opening an account if they would do the transaction and notarize the paper work. They agreed. After...

Re: Need help moving to do it myself at Fidelity

I'm not really set on continuing to own it and it just sort of happened over the years and then after retiring it doubled in price. I think for the time being the stock is ok, just not sure over the long haul. Maybe I should use it for our withdrawal over the next 5 years before I have to start RMDs

I have friends in Naples, they do not have hurricane insurance.
They had some minor damage, nothing close to $14M.

Re: Retirees, how and how much do you pay for health insurance?

My wife and I are both 63. We pay $797 each per month for a total of $1594 month. $19128 year.
The plans are $6500 deductible.
In six years of retirement the cost has doubled.

Don't wait too long to fill with gas.
When you are used to getting 22mpg and now you are down to 14mpg you only have a range of 28 miles with 2 gallons left vs. 44 miles.
When you get further west you will run into spots where the distance between gas stations is further.

Re: Where to Live on $60K or Less a Year?

I live in Brookings and it is a great city for about 7 months of the year. I currently spend 5 months of the year (Dec-Apr) in Arizona. I agree the western part of SD would be a great place to retire if you wanted to live there year round. However our kids have lived in Longmont for about 15 years, ...

Re: Snowmobile trip to Yellowstone

I have been to West yellowstone a couple of times with my own snowmobiles but did not take them in the park, we took a snowcoach tour through the park. I enjoyed this more as the site seeing was better with out having to drive. Snowmobiling in the park is very controlled on the speed and where you a...

Re: Mice in the house

Once you get rid of the mice try using moth balls around the inside of the foundation we have had good luck with this and like a previous poster stated make sure to get rid of food sources. We put out new moth balls each fall. We had a bag of dog food in the furnace room in the basement, I looked at...

Re: Realtor or attorney?

In our part of the country auctions are the way most farm land is sold. The last auction brought approx. $800 an acre more than what was anticipated. The adjoining land owners ended up bidding against a surgeon and the surgeon won out. The adjoining land owners had made an offer as you stated, howev...

HELOC - advise needed

I want to line up a 10 year HELOC before I retire.
My current bank only offers a 5 year.

Has anyone used Nation Wide or other providers like them?
Are they easy to work with?
Any other advise?
