If I'm opening both a CMA and IRA account, is there any way to ensure that the bonus is deposited into the IRA? Would you get any benefit from delaying your pension? You could then do Roth conversions of your pretax accounts up to $24k. I don't believe there is an option to delay military pension. There is a potential that a percentage of the pension could become non-taxable based on whatever VA disability r...

I like USAA, and use them as my primary checking account which all the pays go into and all bills get paid from. Never an issue, and I like their web interface much more than Navy Federal. Having said that, their insurance rates are outright terrible, I've had my insurance elsewhere for the last 10 ...

Appreciate all the responses and the links to the articles and the calcs, they are definitely helpful. I'll definitely run the numbers to make sure I'm on the right path. I didn't realize there were options to tap into the tax advantaged savings prior to 59.5, and that's why I was leaning on drawing...
