Re: Do they still make simple washing machines without any computer chips?

Yes they do, but your power and water bill will almost certainly go up. What do you think all those computer chips in there are meant to do, anyway? Scare the heck out of people who believe technology reached its apex with the so-reliable 1970 Chevrolets and American style why-care-about-resources-...

Re: Tesla maintenance cost?

Well sure. You'll have to replace every part on every car "at some point" Why do you think ICE cars are warranted for 50K instead of 150K? As I explained above, warranties are simply marketing gimmicks. The price of the warranty is built into the car and is structured to be competitive with primary...

Re: Tesla maintenance cost?

I'm actually curious what people are spending on maintenance for their ICE cars. 5 years and 60,000 miles on my Honda I've done: $50 (spent +-$200 total) oil change every 7500 miles (first 4 free from dealer) $25 Tire rotation at each oil change $300 Transmission and Brake fluid change at 60,000 mi...

Re: Tesla maintenance cost?

The three Tesla owners I personally know do not complain about maintenance costs; they complain about the frequency of in-warranty repairs and the logistics of getting those done. One person's comment when I asked him how he liked his Tesla was "I don't know. I don't have it very often." He ended u...

Re: charging an EV

With in-home charging you don’t have to worry about range. Your car wakes up to a “full” tank every morning! Not to mention there are tons of charging stations around town all over the U.S. if you ever needed a quick charge (which you won’t during any typical day). If you are curious download the P...

Re: charging an EV

TL;DR: It costs about the same to drive a Tesla on a road trip as it does a comparable ICE car But don't forget, electricity is WAY cheaper in other parts of the country, just like gas. Texas is like .11 per kwh as an example. It's not certain that the BMW wins in parts of the country where gas is ...

Re: charging an EV

That is the EV fantasy. Reality so far hasn't matched up to it. Go look at any of the maintenance logs for the 200k+ mile Teslas and you will not find a single one that is on the original drive train. Most of them are on 3 or 4. Yeah I'm gonna need to see these maintenance logs you're talking about...

Re: Tesla Full Self Driving Option

I have the Enhanced Auto Pilot on my Model 3. No interest in the FSD package at this time. As others have said, we're a long way from what anyone would call Self Driving. Currently it's vaporware. But having said that, when used as it's intended, as a driver assist feature while still paying attenti...

Re: Specific Disney fastpass suggestions

We've been going to Disney/Orlando almost annually since 2000. September is a good time to go, but be aware there's really no "offseason" at Disney any more. No matter how much they raise the prices, the parks just stay crowded basically all year, it's crazy. But not so crowded you can't enjoy it. B...

Re: MoviePass-Too good to be true, but it's legit.

I don’t think they ever thought they would be profitable from a subscription based model only. I think they were counting on the data sales from restaurants, movie selection, theater choice (as estabilished businesses in those areas - chain restaurants, movie studios and large theater chains) would...

Re: A lot of heavy hitters this morning

Don’t feel demoralized. Look at it this way - if husband and wife work for even just 20 years and just save normally, they would save Husband 401(k) = 18,500 Husband match = 6,000 Wife 401(k) = 18,500 Wife match = 6,000 2x Backdoor Roth = 11,000 529 = 6,000 (say only $500 per month) HSA = 6,900 Tot...

This hurts their business model because it makes each call more expensive. I recommend that everybody do this.
If I could figure out a way to waste their time without also wasting mine, I would try it. :sharebeer
