Re: Replace water heater at end of warranty or repair?

There have been several posts here about anode replacement. If you have limited clearance above the water heater, you will need a segmented replacement anode. Max price should be less than $30 from Amazon. It may be necessary to cut the old rod into pieces as you take it out, or you may be able to ...

An anode replacement is much less expensive than replacing the entire unit. If you are handy, you might be able to do it yourself. However, anode replacement is preventative. If you wait for the tank to fail, then it is too late. Unfortunately in my area the vast majority of water heaters and furna...

Re: Advice on cleaning up after a kitchen fire?

Like sport said hire a firm that specializes in this. Smoke damage can be very costly to clean up. It's very hard to get rid of the odor. Lingering odors can be noticeable on humid or rainy days. Insurance should cover this. When getting repairs done, you should consider having a service switch inst...

If it's only going to be a few hundred bucks, I would forgo notifying my insurance company and pay for repairs out of pocket. The repairs might even be less than your deductible.

I would get a 50 gal. electric for a one person household. The rule of thumb is that only 80% of the tank is usable "hot" water. The recovery time for electric water heaters is very slow vs gas.
