Re: Jack Bogle - Two Fund Portfolio
How many other Bogleheads are using Jack Bogle's recommended Two Fund Portfolio? I am in the process of selling my international funds in my 401K and IRA after reading all 10 pages of this thread and the recommendations of Taylor and Abuss368. It was made simpler since I converted everything to the...

Re: What to invest my 401K in instead of target date funds?
Might I suggest the Three-Fund Portfolio? After trying to tweak my previously under-performing portfolio to the Vanguard suggestions I came upon this forum and Taylor Larimore's post. https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=88005 I have since adopted the suggested 60/40 portfolio t...

Seeing that Taylor has spoken on this situation, I would second all the motions previous.

Re: Taxable Brokerage Fund Question
As a former Marine who wishes we had a forum like this or investment advice when I served, alas Jack Bogle was just getting Vanguard started. I would suggest a California Tax Exempt Bond fund (long or intermediate term)(ER .17) or VWITX (Intermediate-term National Muni) OR a Traditional Balanced Fun...

I would highly suggest reading Taylor Larimore's thread (and book) on "The Three-Fund Portfolio".

Re: The Three-Fund Portfolio
I became acquainted with Vanguard Funds a few years ago after getting my earlier financial education reading the Fools in the 90s. I read several of Mr. Bogle's books and some of Paul Merriman's books as well and managed to construct a portfolio close to what the Vanguard Portfolio Watch recommended...

Re: Please poke holes (thoughts/suggestions) in my overall investment plan :)
I would have to agree with FiveK that there seems to be some overlap. I would suggest a simpler plan like the Three Fund Portfolio, that would be appropriate in a taxable as well as a tax advantaged account.

I think it would be wise to give the Captain of the Flagship some advice... or do we succumb to those who believe the old Jedi mind trick to "Move along, Nothing to see here" or to just drink the Kool-aid.

I had to wait until I got a day off from work to make my contribution to VTABX (in order to balance my Bond portion).
