Yes, it sounds like you can. And I’d say you should. That’s a great option to have. My 401k allows this (which I do), but my wife’s does not.
By doing it you grow tax free, don’t have to pay taxes on withdrawals AND don’t have any RMDs to contend with. Win, win, win!

We are boat people. Have two and love everything about them. Our kids spend countless hours on the lake. One is a pontoon that is 16 years old and the other a 3 year old Mastercraft. Both have been extremely reliable.

Buy well and they are reliable, affordable and offer many great memories.

Thanks for the replies. I think the challenge is he prefers CDs as his fixed income and would like to hold those outside the IRA, leaving the IRA options with VTSAX and VTIAX. Mine has NEVER come off my finger since “I do”.

I think it’s platinum and all I know is it reduces scratches and dings very well. I’m a man that does manly things (built my Jeep, all maintenance on our cars and boats, all yard work and tree cutting, built a house...) and it still looks new.

Make the contribution to IRA whenever you want (you might want to keep it in money market), but don't do the Roth conversion step until the Rollover IRA is actually accepted into the 401k. Is it ever possible to “un”rollover funds? Meaning, if I move my Rollover IRA and pervious 401k to my current employer’s 401k plan, can I undo that action in the future if my current plan is no longer appealing?
