How do you figure? Someone DCAing each paycheck could have been buying shares costing hundreds of dollars of commissions.
I have never paid any trading commissions on Vanguard ETFs. In this scenario, it does not seem prudent to use a brokerage which is any more expensive.

Why does this change in commissions matter for a passive portfolio? There shouldn't be enough trading activity to warrant any change in strategy.

Yield is far from the necessary comparison in selecting one of the above funds.

If you need liquidity, MM is the better choice.

You face the issue of the bond funds losing value. Money market funds are not likely to do this.

I'd go one step further and setup automatic distributions into your checking account for monthly expenses if needed. There's no reason to hold so much cash if you're not going to spend it within 3-5 years.

The next part is finding good staff, ideally someone who may be interested in purchasing it in a decade or two. You can b...

Without a CC, one may keep too much cash on hand and in home. A CC will reduce the need of physical currency. Nowadays you don't even have to keep up with the card; it can be linked with a phone. I think you'd be comfortable with a less aggressive allocation. Try 80/20 and transition to 60/40 if it helps you sleep. I'm sure you're aware of the guideline of "your age in bonds"

For all we know, VTI could increase 10% in the next year.
