Re: Roth IRA Eligibility Question

I'm sorry, I don't understand what I'm looking at. Can you post an image of the details? Most 401Ks won't allow you to over contribute and automatically cut you off at the annual limit? Does that number include employer max $$s. Those aren't counted in the $18,500 limit. Is that an annual fee? If s...

Re: Roth IRA Eligibility Question

I would pull some statements from the current year and look through any line items which states removal of shares / fees / admin / etc. I'd be surprised if it was 0. Do you think that next year you will be in a position where you will need to backdoor or no? If its a one time the work may not be wo...

Re: Roth IRA Eligibility Question

Fee is high but not going to make a huge difference in the short term. What administrative fees on top of that does your 401k charge you. For instance mine charges 2.47 basis points quarterly on all assets in the plan (basically a breathing fee). Works out to be $10 per $10,000 annually. Not too su...

Re: Roth IRA Eligibility Question

Yes those will be treated as traditional IRAs. (assuming the 401k was pre tax contributions) Does your 401(k) allow incoming rollovers? If they do you can rollover your tIRAs into you 401(k) plan. Please note of any fees you pay in administing your 401(k) plan as well as any limits to investment op...

Re: Roth IRA Eligibility Question

If you are unsure about your income and have no money in trad IRAs you can just do a backdoor Roth. The backdoor works fine no matter if your income is above or below the Roth limits. We have Rollover IRAs from old 401K accounts. Would those count as trad IRAs? Have never contributed to them after ...

Roth IRA Eligibility Question

I'm trying to figure out if I can contribute to my Roth IRA this year. I believe the answer is 'Yes' but have held off because I don't want to deal with putting the money in there and finding out we exceed the limit. I researched the income limits but have questions regarding AGI/MAGI. I'll use appr...

Would also recommend YouTube TV. Trialed several of them and they seemed to be the best. You can do a free 7-day trial. It is also $40/mo and you can cancel at any time.

Re: What's Your Credit Card Rewards Strategy?

Marriott points will get a downgrade, but earning SPG points now before the merger will be advantageous. I've been earning as many SPG points as I can. Can you elaborate? There is a fixed exchange rate ratio between SPG points and MR points (1:3), so whether you earn SPG points or MR points now doe...

Re: What's Your Credit Card Rewards Strategy?

Just received this from Chase Marriott. I signed up earlier this year for the 80,000 points and planned on keeping it since the free night more than covered the $85 annual fee (waived first year). Not sure if it is worth it now with the 25,000 point cap since most hotels seem to be higher than that....

Re: Still using a 5 year old iphone 5. Who's with me? No new phones!!!

Still have my 16GB 5S and really don't want to pay for a new phone. The battery drain is frustrating but sounds like I may need to look into the replacement kits people mentioned.

Re: Cell Phone "family plans" Sprint for 4

I don't believe our offer is quite as good as your son's. This is the cost per line under our plan: Unlimited Talk, Text and Data. Line 1: $65; Line 2: $45; Lines 3-10: $35; Lines 11-99: $30. Unlimited Anytime Minutes. Unlimited Messaging. HD Streaming. 10GB Mobile Hotspot. International Text from ...

Re: Cell Phone "family plans" Sprint for 4

So far, a month into the 4 phone "family" sprint plan - worked out well. We all have unlimited calls, unlimited texts, unlimited data (but not unlimited hotspot), free HULU. DW and I got new smart phones replacing the dumb phones we had. Son got the first bill and it looks like there are some start...

Re: Amount Contributed to Roth on Fidelity Site?

You should be able to click on your Roth Account and see 'Contribute to your Fidelity IRAs' on the right side of the screen. Click on the 'Show Contributions' button and it will show how much you've contributed this year.

Hope that helps.

Re: [Switching from Target Date fund to 3-fund portfolio - How?]

With respect to your use of Investor class rather than Premium class, is that because the total in some accounts is less than $10K? Or because you're trying to implement a three-fund portfolio separately in each account? If the latter, you don't need to do that. You allocation should be applied acr...

Re: [Switching from Target Date fund to 3-fund portfolio - How?]

I called this morning and they walked me through the first trade. Was pretty easy after that, with the exception of having to make the final trade in shares versus dollar amount for each account.

Again, thanks for the replies.

Re: [Switching from Target Date fund to 3-fund portfolio - How?]

I can't speak for Fido since I do not have an account with them, but at Vanguard it would be very easy online transactions. I would expect that Fido would be similar. At VG you would go to your Target Date fund online and make three exchanges from that fund into the three funds specifying the amoun...

[Switching from Target Date fund to 3-fund portfolio - How?]

[Moved into a stand-alone post from: The Three-Fund Portfolio --admin LadyGeek] I currently have Fidelity Target Date Funds for my Rollover IRA, Roth IRA, and wife's Rollover and and read the initial post regarding the recommended 3-fund portfolio with Fidelity. I plan on calling Fidelity tomorrow ...
