Looking to invest $250k

Hello bogleheads, I'm looking for some ideas on where to invest 250k, that I received from a relative. I'm looking for a moderately aggressive fund at vanguard, I plan on holding this for 10 to 15 yrs. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I was thinking about a life cycle fund or probably a strat...

Re: 100% VTSAX (Vanguard Total Stock Mkt Idx Adm)??

I'm looking at $4600 a month in retirement pay that's roughly about Annually $55200.. I now have 68k in VTSAX and 27k in my Roth Vanguard2040 fund. I went through a divorce that put a 70k dent in my investments about 7 yrs ago. Your are welcome. I guess my question is why are you putting money in a...

Re: Car people: 2014 E63 AMG or 2018 E400 wagon??

I'd get the E400. Having owned many fast German cars, you come to realize you can only drive so fast to work and back. A truly fast daily driver becomes an annoyance after a while because you never get out of 3rd gear. Right, unless you're taking it to a track, it really is a waste. We were recentl...

I can understand 100% equities but why not include international?
I've been thinking about doing an 80/ 20 mix with international.

Re: 100% VTSAX (Vanguard Total Stock Mkt Idx Adm)??

Kev, You've now provided additional relevant information. A guaranteed lifetime income that is presumably adjusted for inflation is a valuable asset to say the least. I have no idea what the value of your VTSAX portfolio is but knowing that you'll have a guaranteed stream of income is information t...

Re: 100% VTSAX??

The 100% stock threads have returned. The dark clouds gather at the horizon. Time to go all cash. * * Kidding, just hoping to cancel out the jinx of this 100% stock thread post. I was thinking gold. :D Or perhaps tulips. VTSAX (Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Admiral Shares) is so yesterday. All ...

Roth Ira and Brokerage contribution question

Hello everyone, I have two quick questions. 1. what is the benefit(s) of maxing out your Roth ira at the beginning of the year vs contributing $458.33 each month. I have the vanguard 2045 fund in my Roth Ira, I have roughly15.5k in there. 2. I'm looking to converted 45k from a couple of mutual funds...

Re: Looking to revamp my portfolio

Anything less than 10% of total port is not enough to tilt so there is no point in keeping those. I was in your shoes 15 years ago and did something worse at the start but my current port (not-including wife's) are: VG 50% of total portfolio: ((standard 3 fund port)) 60% - VTSAX - Vanguard Total St...
