Re: Vacuum recommendations for Nylon 6.6 carpet

6.6 is no different than other fiber materials. The "soft" comes from the denier or "fineness" of the fiber. Dyson is know to be harsh. If your carpet is very thick an upright may give you trouble. I like the Oreck products, but Hoover etc make good products. Focus on the filter a HEPA is what you w...

Re: Lowe’s flooring for condo, pt rental ?

I am very familiar with the Coretec and Smartcore products and they are comparable in quality and performance. I am not familiar with the Procore product, but looking at the specifications it should serve your purpose. All of these products will perform well in a residential environment. Their weakn...

Local family crisis centers and children's homes are good choices. Toys for tots through the Marine Corps would work.

I would go to a trusted independent shop. My experience with Dealer shops has not been good. I would be surprised if either needs to be replaced.

I might suggest going after long distance running. Give this method a try http://www.jeffgalloway.com/. He would start by walking and progress to Run/Walk. He may find a sense of accomplishment doing a 5/10K Half or Full Marathon. There is a great community out there.

Re: Physical activity suggestions for a non athletic youth

As mentioned earlier Golf is a great game/sport that requires many miles logged walking and carrying a bag. If he likes that and becomes "known" as a golfer it could increase his confidence in other activities. When my son became competitive in golf we mixed in running and weights in his training. T...

Re: Alumni donations to help children get into college

I would not forecast where my child wants to go to college if at all. Save the money and let the child earn their way to the college of their choice within your budget. Two many variables to make that bet on both the school and the child.

According to Mark Twain, "work is what the body is obliged to do and play is what the body is not obliged to do." I don't think getting paid has anything to do with it.

Your best chance of getting a good match is to replace the bathroom. There should be current material for the newer material.

Re: Ethics of "bonus payback" when quitting a job

I would follow the agreement to repay the bonus. It seems a strange agreement to me that a company would prepay for employment. In my world we would put money in a "bank" that would vest and pay out over time.

Keep things off the floor where possible. Wall control for pegboard works great. https://www.wallcontrol.com/ It's galvanized and magnets work on it as well. All you want to know is here https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/index.php

Re: Best women's starter golf clubs?

Serious golf and customer golf are two different things. Most of the time business golf is played as a team with a A,B,C,D player in each group. There are always plenty of D's to go around. Get a set of used clubs from someone upgrading and take some lessons. I'm an A player and that's how I started...

Re: Wood vs Laminate Flooring

I would go with a Solid Polymer Core (SPC) vinyl product with a pad underneath, not attached. Laminate has its drawbacks, moisture and sound. Wood is great, but cost and moisture can be an issue. A solid core product with a vinyl top is the closest to wood and moisture is a non issue. Look for "wate...

Re: Is there value in conversation/communication books?

I have to agree with JoeRetire I personally found absolutely no value in "Crucial Conversations". The book was part of an internal course mandated for all managers by my former employer. It was simply part of the overall MegaCorp "training" nonsense. The course, and the book, was simply a waste of t...
