I would be extremely surprised if anyone bought those parts at any price. They have theoretical life left in them but why would someone take the risk of them failing early and having to pay for them twice? Or better yet, by your logic, why wouldn't YOU just leave them on the car and not buy anythin...

You can ask for them back, but I'm doubtful you'll get that much money for them. The cost in doing a timing belt job is primarily in the time it takes. Who wants to save a few dollars on a part when replacing it takes hours of time, and the possible result of premature failure is engine damage? Yea...

The timing belt is starting to show signs of age so im going to have it replaced...along with water pump, tensioner and idler bearings (not really sure if everything needs replaced by while the mechanic is in there its just easier to do it all at onc...

Apparent Gates started using china parts vs japan. I guess there is a kit out there thats still Japan parts (part number ends in N.) All OEM parts from subaru according to their site comes out to $600...so basically id be paying $400 in labor. Here's another twist...my wife is using the car to drive...

Just get some of that foam insulation for pipes...its round and has slit in it so you can slid it over the pipes. All the pipes in my basement are covered in them...they're cheap. You could also trace the water line from the dishwasher...not that difficult...take a heat gun and blow it on the pipes ...

If you include your home in NW then you need to include vehicles and every possession you own. Between cars, tractor, weight equipment...I probably have $50k in that...not even including all appliances, clothes, furniture, etc etc. Where does it stop?

I never tip for at the counter service.

Tipping doesnt make any sense. If you go to a restaurant and order a $20 bottle of wine or a $400 bottle of wine...is it more difficult for the server to open that $400 bottle of wine? Its ridiculous.

H&R offers a web based version...why bother with software you have to download? I did the online version last year...I think it may have been $30ish all in...maybe less I would have to check. Very user friendly, walks you through everything.

No reason to rent a 4x4 on the big island. Like others said...park at the parking area by the green sand beach and either walk the rest of the way or pay a local. Even if you drive to the top of the keck observatory...no need for a 4x4. Also...if you're staying in kona and have a costco membership....

I was on a vacation 5 months ago...last day of the trip I backed the rental into a metal sign...busted the back tail light, lol. I returned it early in the morning...never received a bill. I was lucky no one saw it. I dont worry about rental insurance...im above the law.
