Re: Cash on hand for two year horizon - suggested placement

Just keep it in the CD - with 15K even you get guaranteed 10% return ( which is unlikely these days) it will be $1500, that will not change your situation too much when you purchase your house in two years. Keeping the money safe will be the 1st thing in the mind, just my 2 cents.

Re: Anyone have a Net Worth in the 1% by age?

I can tell this is pretty old data by comparing the with-home and without home number. How come a 1% guy in his/her 40s is living a sub 300K house these days? :)

Re: To International Index Fund or Not

LOL you nailed it perfectly! I've been tilting on SP500 heavily (80% US, 10% bond, 10% international ) in my retirement accounts for the past few years, and it does work well. As turning into 40s I am reviewing my AA and this has been bothering me for a while, but hasn't taken any action yet... Thou...

Interesting, I didn't think that way at the beginning at all. Thanks and it shows the collective wise of BH!

To International Index Fund or Not

Pardon me and let me admit this is a hot topic before I start my argument.. However - If someone reviews the revenue and operation of SP500 companies closely, he/she will be able to notice that 40% of the profits are coming from non-US market. If we agree that 20% of total asset should be in interna...

Re: Way too much cash - Should it be in bond funds?

With all respects, just curious -

when I see some previous post mentioning that "bond return will go down in the future", are we trying to predict the future return, which is against the principle of BH?

Re: How much did you save?

Discipline will be the most important factor in our case. DW and me are in our early 40s. We lived in a very VHCOL area after graduating from college for 3 years and without any saving left - that's why people called these area Very High Living Cost. :) Then we moved to a low living cost area, boost...
