Better.com did match the 3.0% rate with $1k less in fees. Locked with them. Don't have AmEx :( so no $2500 cashback. The original rates on better.com were higher than my current rate of 3.75, it was only due to the competing offer the rate came down so much. Final details: Superconforming/high bala...

Re: Refinance Mega Thread

The post says "verbal intent to proceed" and not the signed intent to proceed. With most lenders, I wasn't able to get the official loan estimate without first 'locking' the rate with the lender. Another datapoint... loanDepot sounded amicable to beat any rate I had. But once I sent them t...

I did a refinance last month with Better.com mortgage. Process was super smooth, no issues. It was done within 3 weeks (including appraisal and 3 day wait time before closing). They have interest rates in 0.025% increments and your lender credit/fees depend on what rate you choose. I ended up with l...

Definitely refinance. I just did a similar refinance recently - closed on it last week. Bought my house 12 months back @4.375. I was able to get 3.75 with 0 points and 0 cost(Fees of $2k but lender credit of $2k cancelled it. The lender credit was higher as my LTV ratio was less than 75. If it would...

I am currently working with Better Mortgage for my refinance. Should be closing in next few days. They've been excellent. You can get a loan estimate from the unknown company and email better mortgage the estimate and they will match it/reduce fees by $1000 They did fine. Closed on time with no issues. The loan servicing was transferred to another company within 30 days. That's great to hear. I checked bankrate.com and...

We created a new checking account for common expenses. Took advantage one of the sign-up bonus offers :). Part of the paycheck gets directly deposited into this account. Redfin estimates might appear to be more accurate if you go and compare selling price vs redfin estimates for homes that are sold but in reality, Redfin estimates adjust itself based on list price and selling price. For example, the Redfin estimate for a house might be $700k. If you list it for $800...
