Re: How much do you spend on food per month, per person?

About 350/ person including household items. Less that 25 / person on dining out, autoimmune issues. Have to be careful eating out so mostly eat at home.

Re: Start a business or remain an employee?

I would start the business. Better to go for it and fail than when your 50 wondering what if.

You have marketable skills, you can always find a high paying job.

Just my thoughts...Either way your blessed.

Re: BH could you live off your SS benefit?

Currently we spend about 55k/yr. FRA, we should get about 45k. I think we could definitely scale back and live on Just SS. Interesting topic, may experiment this year and cut expenses to expected SS Income.

Absolutely would attend if the Seahawks get back to the Super Bowl. Couldn’t afford it 2013, 2014...but no more tuition or mortgage, I would go for the atmosphere

Good question. Also live in Texas, I pay 9k in Property taxes and 13K in so called health insurance. May end up selling and renting to expedite retirement or semi retirement.

Re: Anyone planning on never retiring?

54 y/o, been in IT for the last 22 years. I want to retire from IT as soon as possible and then maybe work another 10-11 years in a less stressful position. I envy folks that have a career that they are passionate about, I'm not in that camp. Years of working 60-65 hours and getting paid for 40 is a...

Beautiful city. Lots to do; Sking, Hiking, Water Sport, great beer & food.

I would definitely rent at first, maybe in one of the Suburbs. Public transportation is excellent.

I have taxable funds with Vanguard and Solo 401K with Fidelity. No issues with either firm, I don't think you can go wrong with either 3 of these firms. I wouldn't sweat it

Re: What are your health insurance stats?

Our OOP is the same as deductible as long as it is in Network. There is no maximum OOP if we go out of Network.

We pay all non preventive cost up to Deductible then the Insurer takes over. I haven't been to the Doctor in 2 years, partly because of cost and mainly because I am in good health.

Re: Changing State Residences for ACA Coverage

I live in Texas and pay 13K/yr for Health Insurance we barely use. I have considered moving to a lower cost ACA state but I'm waiting or the dust to settle in congress.

I'd like to retire in 5 years (59.5) but may wait till 65 because of Health Insurance cost.
