Re: Pay off 4.99% car loan early? Will it affect credit?

I vote pay off the loan. You have a solid plan what to do with the 250 per month. Is there a reason you are worried about a small drop in your credit score? Also, would it make more sense to put the $250 to your IRA starting January 2021? Is there a solid reason you have a 7 month EF for your mortg...

Re: Pay off 4.99% car loan early? Will it affect credit?

Nothing wrong with paying g it off. Depending on the age, value of car, and your credit score, you could qualify to refinance. We dropped at 3.x% loan to 1.3% if you are trying to build your credit, this could help with another account, but there would be a hard pull on your credit which could hurt...

Re: Pay off 4.99% car loan early? Will it affect credit?

You will fall into the boat I'm paddling. When I look at my credit union's credit score for me, it has a section that gives hints how the score could be higher or what's dropping it. For me, I have no installment loan active. Because I have no loan, they don't have the data point of me paying a loa...

I have $5800 left on my car loan. 4.99% 2 years left to pay off $248 a month. I can pay it off now and only use $3000 from my 7 months of mortgage payments saved up(in savings account). OP, we currently have a 10-year HELOC with Third Federal; and have found them most co-operative to deal with. It's been 3 years now. They did a "desktop" appraisal of our home; which was unencumbered at the time; so it was pretty straightforward. Might be a bit different in your case. Our...
