Re: Sitting on the sidelines...for now

Maybe should not have given so much information and limited my comment regarding "timing the market". I agree and would say that I am timing the market, but please leave the "timing" to me. I understand that I may miss out on either a huge increase or a huge drop. Annuity option....

Sitting on the sidelines...for now

Just retired 3 months ago at 64. Not collecting SS just yet. Anticipate that I have enough on hand to wait until FRA. I have enough in my tax deferred accounts to be comfortable after the post election run-up in the market. I recently transferred all of my previous work 401K's to a Vanguard MM IRA.....

Re: Any issues with rollovers from Fidelity to Vanguard?

OP here. Thanks for all the feedback and yes, hindsight is 20/20. I should have checked in with the heads for advice before initiating the rollovers. Woulda, coulda, shoulda.... Comments: Not looking for sympathy. I was just fuming that my only request from Fidelity over the past 27 years regarding ...

I've been on this forum for over half a year and decided that the most and most worthwhile feedback on investments have been discussed here. I appreciate all of the back and forth with differing opinions as well as appropriate references that have been invaluable. OK, on to it.... This may have been...

Re: Ack! I just quit my job at 63.

Thanks for all the feedback. Did not look at taking the spousal SS when my wife turns 62. I thought it was a done deal and wasn't able to find any info on the new rules as it pertained to my scenario. Thanks for that. Agree that I left out some details regarding risk, income needed with respect to i...

Ack! I just quit my job at 63.

Lot of balls in the air. Will try to be as concise as possible. Current status: Stopped working beginning of May 2017. Fidelity 401K's from past companies totaling 816K at this writing. I was going to go more conservative last November thinking that 750K at the time would be a good benchmark. I hesi...

Re: Forced to Convert 401k to IRA?

I am also subjected to the all-or-nothing distribution from two 401K's at former positions with large Pharma. No partials. Note that you really should look at the Summary Plan Description as mentioned above. One of mine states that there will be a full distribution of the 401K (check to me) when I t...

I'm hoping I didn't quit too soon

Called it a day on 5May2017. More for mental health as I just couldn't manage people making six figures, sense of entitlement, etc. Anyway...Not anticipating working again at least in my former industry. Currently have Four 401K's from previous employers with Fidelity. One with Wells Fargo from my m...
