Re: iPad or Chromebook for 5 year old?

Why on earth would a 3 and 5 year old need any kind of screen/device?

How about some books or some art and craft supplies?

Maybe a chemistry set (if they’re still legal) or some building blocks.

Re: Advice on short Vietnam visit

I have visited Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh, it was all amazing. I did 1 night in Hanoi then 2 nights on Ha Long Bay. I wish I’d had another night in Hanoi to explore more. In Hanoi I stayed at a great little hotel called La Siesta Trendy. https://www.hanoilasiestatrendyhotel.com/ For ...

Re: Ghosted by IKEA after warranty claim

With things like this, I find that shaming them on their social media accounts, preferably with pictures is the best way to get them to act. It’s worked for me with several companies including IKEA.

Re: Satellite Phone rental for foreign travel

I highly doubt you’ll need a satellite phone unless you’re going somewhere extremely remote. I currently operate in about 50 countries and get by with my regular cellphone and a mobile data service. I use both Pokifi and Flexiroam. Pokefi is basically a portable WiFi base station. The device is $150...

Re: Home printer

I’ve got a Canon ink well printer, it’s the G3400. We print a lot because my wife is a teacher, we’re only half way through the bottles that initially came with the printer after a year of use.

Thanks for the info.

I use USD as I’m paid in a currency linked to USD and expect to retire using USD.

Re: New iShares MSCI World Small Cap UCITS ETF, proposition for European 3/4-fund portfolio

The exact right weights can be found from MSCI index factsheets, looking at index market caps which sum up to the MSCI ACWI IMI market cap of $52,252B. These would at the moment (4/2018) give weights of 75.93%, 11.96% and 12.11% in the order above. Then you could let the weights float, except for p...

Re: The Rolex and The Boglehead

If you want one then get one, just don’t buy a brand new one at full MSRP and you’ll be fine.

I’ve had many over the years and have always got back more than I paid.

Enjoy it, I guarantee you’ll look at it and won’t even notice what time it is two seconds later!

Re: Laptop suggestions pls

100% Apple. I've had numerous Windows laptops in the past, they all suffer from massive slowdown after a few months and continue to get worse from there. My wife's $1500 Windows laptop hasn't lasted 5 years and takes over 15 minutes to start. My 2010 MacBook Air still starts like the day I took it o...

Why would I tip? I've already paid for the room. Where does it stop?

Re: When will used Rolex prices decline significantly?

The desirable models don't really go down especially if you don't pay full retail initially. I've have numerous Rolex's over the years and have never lost anything when selling or trading for another model. I spend a bit of time over on rolexforums.com and there really can be some great deals from g...

Re: US expat wife and NRA husband

Hi As I understand you have US citizenship but reside overseas? My understanding is that if this is the case you still owe US tax on any income, it is just offset by any taxes you pay to a foreign government and there is also an exclusion amount. It has been a while since I lived overseas but those...

US expat wife and NRA husband

First post but have been a reader for about a year and finally decided to get serious about investing. I've read "Millionaire Teacher" and am really looking for advice to get my wife on track, I've included all assets to give you the big picture. We're living in the Middle East and at the moment hav...
