My daughter has one (3 years) and is happy, after much research too. Mazda's quality has come way up. There seems to be thousands on the roads of San Diego County.

Been there done that. I just ask for a seperate check. Otherwise, you always get screwed... badly. Don't bother with all these formulas and suggestions, you'll have a migraine just thinking about it. You can get used to asking (be polite) for a seperate check, I did.

You can get great lights cheap. The main thing for rear red light is the flashing to get driver's attention. ( I even have a bell, really helps when coming up on walkers, or walkers with dogs, strollers etc. etc.) A good white/clear flashing headlight also.Enjoy the ride !

Don't Do it !! You can give them a dave ramsey book ( buy used @ thriftbooks or amazon etc.), but don't loan them the money!! I did almost the same thing with family (yes) members. They were looking for a sucker ($3000) and they found me. They had already suckered other family members that I didn't ...

Re: Vanguard MM 10-day hold on written checks

I agree, transfer the money ahead of time. Or,I will write Van MM checks to my bank/ck. acct. and then write a check to contractor's et.al. The elec. trans. can be very very slow ( weekends, holidays etc.) and a MM paper check to your bank can be much quicker. Been there, done that.

Big ol' Jotul wood burner here, I enjoy it a lot. I wish I had a toploader. You can pick up free wood if you keep your eyes peeled, i.e. golf courses are good, home remodeling, tree cutting etc. My old house came with a "brick corner" inside. I also have a heating system. A wood stove or fireplace c...

Re: Paying for rent is throwing away money...myth?

A old timer real estate salesman told me over and over "you are building equity..." It took awhile to sink in. It is "forced savings" for many of us. Ownership costs do add up. Some of us got lucky (very lucky.. San Diego County ) but definitely every situation is different.

I agree with the "carnival barker" title, I think he really scares old folks with his antics and advice to buy life insurance. "It's all about the taxes !!" Uhhh, no it's not Ed. Even before the Internet, maybe early 80's (late 70's ? ) Sears management starting driving their stores into the ground. Gonna miss him, I spent many hours riding my bike listening to him on Sundays, started listening about 25 years ago. Usually good sound advice. I have had bad experiences with EBay because of ( in my case) Chinese sellers running total scams. Ebay helped with refund but each time it took months. Guitars, headphones, phones etc. I think Ebay makes huge $$$ from these China scammmers and they really don't care. Done with Ebay.

Stain works much better than paint. Paint doesn't stick to wood as well, maybe with a primer? I used an opaque brown stain and coated everything really well. I chose the opaque so that the sun can't penetrate ( or try a sealer once in a while). With this technique my fence will last a long time, I l...
