You may buy gold if you want to make it part of your AA but please do not buy it for a doomsday fund. There are better alternatives as others have described.

What you are doing is good enough until this thing passes.
I walk 30 minutes each day. But I walk up a steep hill (Cardiac Hill)
I also do the dumbbells and barbells every other day.

Personally:
Paid off house is just a place where I live.
Monetary value of the place is currently irrelevant.
Plan to leave it for heirs if all goes well.
Can be used to supplement my LTC policy.
Glad I kept it. Couldn't stand being isolated in an apartment.

If you have the time and the inclination, try doing the calculations yourself by using the tax forms.
You will learn a lot. All the forms and instructions are online.
If that is too much trouble, then talk to your CPA.

Get the blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert. I could have avoided backing into someone if my Camry had one.
I will never again buy a vehicle without these two features. When I sold the Camry I bought a vehicle with these two features.
