Re: Amex card + Any tips for US Open tickets?

If you happen to be a Chase customer, you can get access to the Chase Lounge. If you end up buying tickets to a day session, the lounge can be a nice cool place to stop by if the sun gets to you.

Note that there's a limit of 30% AGI for what you can deduct in one year, so barring other considerations that is the best you can do.
Isn't the 30% AGI limit just for donating long term capital gain? Donating cash has a limit of 60% AGI.

Re: Donor Advised Fund Calculator?

I don't know of such a calculator, but you could consider bunching a couple years worth of donations into the DAF to itemize this year, and then take the standard deduction for the next few years while you recommend grants out of the DAF.

Re: Fund Fidelity DAF from Vanguard taxable

I have always initiated at Vanguard and pushed to Fidelity. Interesting, I feel like most advice I've read on BH about transferring between Vanguard and Fidelity Charitable has said to initiate a pull from the Fidelity side. The medallion signature guarantee on the form is misleading and needlessly...

Fund Fidelity DAF from Vanguard taxable

Hello, I'm looking to start a Fidelity DAF account for charitable contributions this year. After going through the demo application on Fidelity Charitable's website, I had a couple questions about funding from mutual funds in my Vanguard taxable account: Funding the Fidelity DAF online doesn't let y...

Re: Getting money to Ally

I would also feel more comfortable depositing at a physical location (as opposed to mailing it) and then moving the money electronically, especially if you already have the transfer relationship set up between Wells Fargo and Ally. Also worth noting that a couple six-figure checks might put you abov...

Recharacterizing excess Roth contributions

Due to an income increase, I've realized that I'm going to be entirely ineligible to contribute to a Roth IRA for this year. However, I've already contributed $1600 to my Roth IRA. I was planning on: Recharacterizing the $1600 to a Traditional IRA Convert the $1600 back into the Roth IRA as soon as ...

Re: Chicagoland Bogleheads, please help! (Homebuying)

Is Wheaton or Glen Ellyn feasible? Anecdotally speaking from within the decade, District 89 is good (specifically Glenbard South or West). It might not have the same amenities as the larger Naperville or Hinsdale schools, but there were plenty of AP classes, good teachers, and extra curriculars. It'...

Advice on 401k at new job and moving investments

Hi there, I just started a new job and am not really sure what to do about my old 401k (as well as pick funds for my new 401k). This seemed like a good time to also get advice on my investments as a whole. Emergency funds: 6 months in Ally Online Savings Debt: None Tax Filing Status: Single Tax Rate...
