Re: Retirement Planning - Mid 40s

Op - I think you've already made up your mind, but essentially you have a 4% withdraw rate with some uncertainties about potential expenses. I think you are close but you are really cutting it close. When I was your age, our expenses were similar to yours but I was targeting between 2.0 to 2.5M wit...

Re: Retirement Planning - Mid 40s

I have mixed opinions about your proposed plan. We did something similar. So far it’s working out ok 7 years in. We had a greater percentage of the total in taxable. We have had some part time work. We knew that health care was the biggest wild card. Your sequence of returns risk is high. Your expe...

Re: Retirement Planning - Mid 40s

Thanks for additional feedback. The $60k is what we have been spending more/less the last 2-3 years so it's been tested except for job loss or health issues and assumption is that, we will keep the same lifestyle until foreseeable future. To summarize: (1) Savings Target - 1.5M (taxable and non-taxa...

Re: Retirement Planning - Mid 40s

Home is paid off so it's worth is immaterial. No inheritance,we are on our own. Gut feeling says, we are in good shape but using this forum as a sounding board. Given our income or reduce income(in future), savings 1.5M to 1.75M is a stretch goal realistically speaking in next 5 years but anything a...

Retirement Planning - Mid 40s

Background : Notified that my job maybe eliminated due to recent merger in next 2-3 months and trying to get feedback from this board on our finances and any planning that needs to be done. Have been looking for jobs during this Covid-19 pandemic but no bites yet as we are not looking to relocate. ...

Re: Homeowner's: notice of non-renewal. Where/how to shop?

Twenty-two years ago (and single, and not paying as much attention as I do now, and etc.) I went with AAA for homeowners, because that's where my auto was. So far so good: no home claims; a few minor auto claims. Curious..22 years you have paid for home insurance. How much did that cost? Ever think...

This maybe a little personal but we are done having kids and are considering Sterilization. The Q is: Should it be me or my spouse? Looks like male sterilization is inexpensive and procedure is simpler but female sterilization maybe fully covered by insurance and it's fairly simpler but slightly at ...
