Re: Cabo San Lucas - question
I feel safer in a Cancun mega resort than taking a walk in any section of Chicago, including Michigan Avenue. This is coming from someone who goes to Chicago a lot and knows the city well.

Re: Pant Recommendations (Business Casual)
Regular Fit Garment Washed Chino from Johnston Murphy. $88 and there is usually buy one get 2nd half off. I'm a 36 and they fit great. Also, Ted Baker London makes great casual pants (I usually buy at Nordstroms) that fit/look great, albeit a bit pricey ($170).

Island Grill and Hog Heaven Sports Bar & Grill--both near mile marker 85--are great for local fare. For pizza, Jersey Boardwalk Pizza at MM89 is great!

Re: Tuckpointing - Any recommendations?
I'm surprised a 15YO building would need that kind of repair already. Wonder if there are other issues as well? That being said, Chicago must have tens of thousands of 100-year-old brick buildings. I'm sure an internet search would yield some results that you could at least get started with. I need ...

Re: Company merger, rolling 401K to IRA
I can't imagine a connection between how she rolls over her balance (successor plan vs IRA) and qualifying for a match. I'm also curious as to which Fortune 15 company you reference, I don't recall any such recent M&A activity.

Re: Small stock holding at ComputerShare
Our plan uses Computershare and charges $50 for a transfer. Likely yours is pretty close to that.

Re: FAFSA for High Net Worth Parents?
maybe I am doing something wrong - but I do not find the FAFSA a burden to fill out at all. Some information - net worth, salary, etc. Not hard at all. You are doing it right. The main complaint is having to fill out the form when EFC will inevitably usually be as much, if not more than cost of sch...

Re: FAFSA for High Net Worth Parents?
I echo Alan's reply above. Our EFC isaround $77k. Son applied to large Catholic University. Rec'd acceptance letter, no scholarship from school. After talking to a financial counselor found out that we are getting $10k per year as an inducement to go to this school. Apparently there is a shrinking b...
