I use summary data.
With multiple banks and brokers it can still add up, and for brokers there's other data like qualified dividend, foreign tax credit.

if I start the redemption process, it lists the value as of January 2024, and the new interest rate This worked fine for me when redeeming in multiple months this year, near month end. I don't remember if it was two business days before the end of the month, but the redemption date was shown to be in the following month, and the correct amount was shown ahead of time. No problem getting the proper amount redeemed. I did have problems with some redemption requests not being accepted, but I doubt that had to do with timing near the end of the month. You can check history to be sure your orders are in the system. I think you can also see pending transactions in your list of bonds. I'm redeeming the last of my I bonds early in January. Since t...

I own the Korea one, FLKR. Easier than holding a collection of Korean ADRs. It's in an IRA, so no tax downside if the fund closes or changes in a way I don't like.

Re: Treasury Price/Yield Comparisons between Brokerages
I did a tiny comparison a month ago of Fidelity, Schwab, and another broker. TIPS maturing in 2051, 2052, and 2053 at three different times. So only 9 data points for each broker. With quantity 75 or more, Fidelity always had the smallest spread or was tied for the smallest spread.
It's not hard to do a small test like this. Just search for a limited number of bonds, such as TIPS maturing after January 2051. Do the search on multiple brokers at almost the same instant. Then record the size of the yield spread for each bond in a range.
If anyone plans to do this many times, it might help to record the time of your quotes so you can also see if spreads tend to be better at a certain time of day, such as just after the bond market opens.

Is it possible to place an I-bond sell order at TD for the bond to be sold at a defined future date? I'd like to sell a bond on Sept 1 without having to remember to do this on that exact date. Earlier this year I went through the menus carefully enough to convince myself that this is probably not possible. You can schedule a purchase, but it seems you cannot schedule a redemption for a date of your choice. At least for me, since at least May of this year, all redemptions are scheduled for two business days in the future. Some posts since May on this thread claim different timing than this, so please check the redemption date and amount onscreen carefully before submitting, if you enter a transaction late in the month. There can be a compromise between simplicity and reliability. Until recently I was happy to use one bank account for paying bills. Now I’ve decided to have a second bank that would be useful for paying bills, and link to that bank from Treasury Direct and two brokers so the new bank account can be used quickly if needed. Banks can close a customer’s account for any reason, at any time, a point that is buried in the fine print of its customer agreements. Sometimes there are direct CDs with much better rates than the best brokered. Maybe more than 50 bps better. There also can be benefits such as moderate early withdrawal penalties, add on options, or step up. Though I doubt step up / rate bump is often useful. A good direct CD is often difficult to open before the rate changes, especially if investing in an IRA. More than once I’ve had to transfer an IRA back out of credit unions that wouldn’t hold the rate for me. For a $10,000 IRA CD it probably isn’t worth the trouble. For bank accounts using ACH, it might be enough to look every other month. https://www.nacha.org/news/which-60-days-it-understanding-different-periods-regulation-e-and-nacha-rules For paper checks, it might depend where you live. https://www.occ.gov/topics/consumers-and-communities/consumer-protection/depository-services/checking-accounts.html#somethingwrong Your bank might insist that you authorized the fraudulent transactions and refuse to reimburse, so looking every month might be safer. Merrill 60 days. https://www.fidelity.com/security/customer-protection-guarantee https://www.ml.com/privacy-and-security-c...

Re: Maximum interest on checking account funds
(snip) [Fidelity] standard brokerage account can use SPAXX as its core position and functions identically to the CMA (including free checks, debit cards, and bill pay), just without ATM fee reimbursement This looks like a great choice for those who either aren’t worried about fraud, or don’t expect to hold significant assets at Fidelity. When 1 month T Bills are paying 10%, incoming cash might earn something like 9.6%. Compared to maybe 0.45% at Schwab until you manually move it. I don’t want to link a brokerage account to credit card companies, utilities, insurance, etc. More chances for data leaks and fraud. Some people might be able to use a savings account instead of a checking account. It seems that the 6 withdrawals/month regulation ...

Re: Are brokered CDs insured?
Perhaps “company” in Investopedia’s advice is the broker, not the bank. In a financial disaster with multiple failures, I don’t know if it’s possible for an insolvent broker to fail to credit your account after FDIC kicks in.

Re: Savings accounts with fast ACH transfers
Pushed from Marcus?
I want a backup for my main bank account in case it’s ever frozen.
So I would link this new account to most of my other accounts. Would prefer to keep the new account for the long term, and avoid making those links to yet another bank.
The new account might also be useful even without losing access to my old one. Such as if it’s faster in making incoming funds available for withdrawal when pushed from a broker or from Treasury Direct. Or if it’s faster in sending funds.

Re: Savings accounts with fast ACH transfers
In case it matters, note that you can only link 2 accounts:
MARCUS customers:https://www.baskbank.com/faq wrote:Two (2) External accounts may be linked to your Bask Accounts.
Have you successfully used same day ACH? Or sent a wire from Marcus to yourself without needing to get a person on the phone?
Any problems with direct debit to pay credit cards, utilities? Or linking ACH with Treasury Direct and with brokerages?
When redeeming a no penalty CD early, is the money instantly available?

[Same-day or fast ACH transfers]
[Title was "Savings accounts with fast ACH transfers" --admin LadyGeek] Please suggest FDIC or NCUA insured deposit accounts with fast ACH, and maybe other fast EFT. Here’s three I haven’t tried: ALLIANT CREDIT UNION Alliant prides itself on making its members’ funds available to them as quickly as possible. When most banks were making ACH deposits available to their customers only after a 2-day lag, Alliant processed nearly all of its ACH transfers within one business day. Now, we’re making funds available even faster. With same-day ACH, all ACH transfers sent from your originating financial institution by 1:45pm CT will post by 5:00pm the same day! Although we are not offering outbound same day ACH now, we are working on system...

Re: I Bonds Mega Thread (I Bond Heads Rejoice!)
Yes, although the redemption amount shown is correct according to eyebonds.info.
Trying to redeem them I get logged out. Both today and yesterday, both from viewing a single bond and from Manage Direct.
Some time ago Treasury customer service essentially told me that getting kicked out of a session can lead to being locked out of your account. Good luck to everyone trying to redeem!

Thanks, very nice page for seeing the already known future redemption values up to when the November 2022 rates end. Which is exactly when I expect to redeem most of my I bonds.PaunchyPirate wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 11:25 am.... need to step back 3 months from the value shown for the first 5 years.

For bonds under 5 years old, I’m just adding 3 months of time after the last entry. (The May 2023 rates aren’t showing yet.)

Re: The Final, Definitive Thread on Brokerage Transfer Bonuses
From a quick search of this thread, it looks like an IRA bonus may have been given, and put into the taxable account.
I suppose anyone wanting an IRA could try to get something in writing.
We support:
Brokerage Accounts (Individual, Joint)
Retirement Accounts (Traditional, Roth, SEP IRAs)
Trust Accounts
Custodial Accounts

As a result, the money supply surged, and US Treasury yields fell to an all-time low. Easy money has encouraged the use of leverage: earlier this year, a fund run by the Korean-born investor Bill Hwang lost billions of dollars; Hwang is believed to have leveraged his investments b...
