maybe some new lenses would be a better investment?

Re: Prioritizing investments question

There's only one 401k. So Trad 401k max first? Keep an eye on income year-to-year for Roth IRA eligibility and backdoor when income is too high for Roth? if she is self employed (ie 1099) you can open a solo 401k. yes trad. yes, you can always backdoor a Roth if you are worried about going over.

Re: Help Setting up Taxable 3 Fund Portfolio

So you would increase bonds in 401k to 100%? There is some controversy over where to allocate bonds, which is why I settled on a matching bond allocation in both 401k and taxable. Having all bonds in 401k means missing out on some compounding growth when you’re almost certainly not touching that un...

Re: Help Setting up Taxable 3 Fund Portfolio

401k is 18.5 this year, 19K next year.
you probably shouldnt be doing Roth yet.
buying weekly is annoying to me. i think monthly is easier for TLH purposes.

all you need to do is buy total US/INTL, increase bonds in 401k.
once thats full then add munis, ibonds.

continue indefinitely.

why not start with 60:40 and go from there.
you have an avg of 20 years to go, still plenty of time to weather a few more ups/downs.
but none of this is new. youve literally lived through this before. this is not different.

i wouldnt worry about the TIPS/short term bonds. you are 80% stock, so thats plenty of inflation protection.
you dont need those other two funds in your SEP (you know which ones).
also why tilt separate SCG and SCV? unnecessary again.
