Re: Best CD rates thread

Just wanted to confirm that PSECU will honor last month’s CD rates as per the email I posted from them. Your account had to be established by November 9th. You do have to talk to them over the phone. I successfully purchased a three year CD at the 3.25 APY. I just want to recognize their excellent c...

Re: Best CD rates thread

I just received the following email from PSECU: Our certificate rates were decreased on Saturday, November 9 at 5 p.m. EST. We will honor current rates for 24-month certificate and 36-month certificate requests for new membership applications submitted before November 9 at 5 p.m. We will also honor ...

Is TIAA Traditional only open to those in a group plan? In other words can anyone get into it or does your employer have to offer it to you? Thanks.

I would love to hear what his thoughts are on the best fixed income investments (Treasuries, Municipals, CDs) and so forth.

Thanks!

I’ve used TracFone for years in my medical practice as an “on call” phone. They work great and the price is unbeatable. They use Verizon and ATT towers.

Re: Health Savings Account investment strategy

I’ve been using Vanguard Wellington for the past several years through Optum Bank HSA. So far, so good. Three fund portfolio in my taxable, but I’m sure that would be a great choice in the HSA space as well. I just wanted to try something different, and I admire Wellington!

Best of luck!

Re: Paris hotel recommendations for young family

We stayed at the Hotel Le Littre near Montparnasse & Saint Germain des Prés in March.
It is very well situated for metro travel and quiet. The rooms are nice and simple with high quality furnishings. I would recommend booking to include the breakfast buffet which is top notch. Happy travels!

Re: GO versus Revenue ratio in Vanguard Muni Funds

Thanks for the reply. At this point, I’m just a little skeptical of the GO bonds in a lot of states. At least with revenue bonds, there’s a dedicated stream of income going into them.

GO versus Revenue ratio in Vanguard Muni Funds

Does anyone know what percentage of Vanguard’s Intermediate Muni Bond Fund is general obligation versus revenue? I’ve looked in the prospectus but can’t pin it down. Thanks to all for any info.

United States Senate Federal Credit Union

Hello to all.

Does anyone have experience with the United States Senate Federal Credit Union? They seem to have excellent CD rates. Joining doesn’t look to hard, either. Appreciate your feedback.

Yes. The name of the company is Intermedia. We are a small two person medical group with a high volume of calls. They’ve been very good for our practice. Economical and easy to use.

Terminating personal advisory service

Happy Fourth to all! Can someone relate their experience ending Vanguard’s personal advisory service? I’ve been with them three years now, and I think things are pretty well set. I have educated myself (thanks to this forum) and feel comfortable running the show on my own. Specifically , I’m wonderi...

Primecap investing

As we all know, investing in Vanguard’s Primecap fund is closed to new investors except for those in the Flagship category. While I am a strong believer in indexing, I occasionally like to take “hobby” positions in other funds. Has anyone at the Flagship level ever actually tried to buy these funds?...

Well, it looks like Optum HSA is finally going to let the Wells Fargo refugees invest in Vanguard funds. Actually, the list is very promising. Illinois and Vanguard's exposure

With the ongoing budget crisis in Illinois, is anybody concerned about Vanguard's exposure in the municipal bond sector? I think around five to six percent of the Intermediate bond fund is invested in Illinois bonds. Thoughts appreciated!

Optum HSA

As some of you may know, Wells Fargo HSA business was acquired by Optum Bank. One of the advantages of Optum, in my mind, is the ability to invest in lower cost Vanguard mutual funds. Unfortunately, Optum is still not allowing the former Wells Fargo customers to invest in these funds. Instead, they ...
