The fees have a significant range. How aggressive will opposing counsel be? And don't say there isn't one. Because if there isn't, you might as well have no agreement. You should also hire an estate planning lawyer to draft it. Most divorce lawyers I know do not draft them.

The lawyer is wrong. The executor should hire an accountant. Few lawyers can file income tax returns and those who do charge way more than competent CPAs.

Total project was $8,915.00 with 56 feet of "deco drain" that cost $420.00.

This will depend on the way the POD is written and also on the account agreement. It most likely will go to the others named but this should be verified with the institution holding the account before any disclaimers are signed. Disclaimers are normally irrevocable.

I would hire a fee only CFP. Too much liability and risk of being sued. Hiring a CFP, even if just to approve your investments, would be very helpful if you are ever sued.

Most POA statutes provide that the agent is entitled to a reasonable fee. And of course you are entitled to reimbursement for costs incurred by you individually. Consult a local lawyer. Every state is different.

I’d save more for retirement. If you want to pay off the mortgage sooner, refi to a 15 year if you currently have a 30 year and plan to stay in the house for awhile. Rates should be decent now with the cut but I haven’t looked.
