0-5 year ST High Yield bond fund

All,

Thoughts on SHYG (an I share ETF) - a High Yield Junk fund with 0.3% ER and 5.5% yield. Of course riskier than High Grade funds, but yield is double.

Thanks,

Re: East Coast And Work/Life Balance

I like people from NY/NJ....it is America....but, a different unique location. I am from west coast and would be fish out of water there, but people are great, but work different times than WC people, they love facetime at office.

Re: Vanguard vs. Fidelity [Customer Service Reputation]

I moved all holding to Fidelity and very happy. The website and service is great - 24 hours. I transferred all my VG assets in kind with no problem. In addition, Fidelity has many commission free ETF's from Blackrock. ITOT is only .03% ER (a Russell 1500 index). Vanguard was great, but I prefer the ...

Re: Leaving Merrill and Portfolio help please :)

I just transferred all my funds to Fidelity from another brokerage firm and it was very easy. I set up an account at Fidelity and selected transfer assets option, which provided a web form to complete and attach a copy of my taxable and non taxable account numbers and related statements. They made i...

Performance measurements

Bogleheads...Happy New Year!

When reviewing past performance charts, do dividends paid come into performance measurement. Or, it is measured on only price of stock performance, excluding dividends?

Many thanks and Happy New Year.

For me, never...I would buy used with good records. But, one should have hobbies which might include a sailboat, nice car, etc is personal choice and you should enjoy if you really want one!

Re: Vanguard Mutual funds vs ETF ER

Thanks! Makes sense. At Vanguard, you can buy ETF's at no cost? If that is so, I can get ETF without a 50K investment and get same ER as an admiral share ER?

Many thanks!

Re: Vanguard Mutual funds vs ETF ER

Most ETF's seem cheaper....and Admiral is same price as ETF, but other funds such as High Yield Dividend MF is VHDYX is almost double ER of VYM? Perhaps there is a reason?

Vanguard Mutual funds vs ETF ER

All,

Thanks for this forum. I have noticed that ETF's have lower ER than mutual funds? Are there pro's and con's? I am al LT investor and not tempted to trade, based on that...the ETF's seem lower cost?

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Re: Tax question my CPA answered wrong last year

JHart,

Capital gains are taxed either ST or LT rate. LT will result in lower 15% rate.

I think your CPA might be correct.

Thanks
