Re: Married Filing Jointly - 2 backdoor Roths - ok?

We’ve done the same for many years, no problem.

Re: Mid-Century Sofa - Quality of Online Brands / Midrange Chains

Adding to chorus of satisfied Room & Board customers. Over the last 15 years we’ve purchased a sofa (still going strong, could use a cleaning but otherwise excellent condition), several solid wood bookcases, dressers, beds, a dining table, and various accessories like frames and lamps. We love their...

Re: wild caught sockeye salmon

When my Costco reported having a hard time stocking fresh wild Alaskan salmon a couple of years ago I bought from Tanner’s Fish and can report excellent service and quality. Also took advantage of having access to halibut - yum!!

Re: Another solar post - Large vs Small installers

Are you in a small community? Small town ethics and reputation go a long way even today. We went solar a few years ago and has a similar choice. In suburban/semi rural sunny CA. We went with the small guy who had been in business <10 years but owned the company himself and was an actual engineer not...

Re: Best way to collaborate on net worth/retirement goals?

We do a very manual process but I think it’s helpful for us to communicate. I am the one with the financial planning instinct and interest. DH is more emotional and reactionary. When we first married we had a lot less money but not nothing. We started by consolidating accounts and merging what could...

Re: Wedding/Engagement Ring Insurance

I always thought we’d get around to insuring my $10k engagement ring but dragged my feet getting the required appraisal. Now (14 years into marriage!) my husband just says he’d buy me a new ring if something happened to mine. But...after this long (and with 3 kids’ expenses), I am not sure I’d be wi...

Re: 60/40 now or closer to retirement?

In my opinion it depends of how large the 40% is at some point. If I have enough, as I define it, in the lower risk asset bucket, the so called 40%, then why not then take more risk with future investments? Why continue to amass lower risk, lower return assets at the same rate when I have already "...

Re: Anyone raised 3 kids WITHOUT buying a 3-row vehicle?

We were in your shoes 3 years ago and made the foolish mistake of NOT getting the minivan. Instead we got a lovely XC90, thinking all 3 row vehicles were equal. They are not. Minivans were made for your family and mine. I LOVE my XC90 but a year later we had to buy the Pacifica hybrid - it was just ...

Re: 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

I could have written cville’s first paragraph- we’ve had the exact same experience wrt to mileage and such. Got the 2018 Limited (top trim) in November 2017 and have been thrilled. Thank you for your feedback! Do you notice the same issue with it running only off the ICE when it's less than 35 degr...

We’ve not installed a Level 2 charger but very rarely drive more than 35 miles in town so we are nearly always running ...
