Re: Forced to market time, on the wrong day... how to fix?

market timing is frowned upon in this forum.. market goes up and down short term. I wish I lost only $1k.. I lost $16,000 just today and no I am not some wealthy person. Just thinking long term and staying the course as suggested on this forum. To be fair, unless you panic-sold you really didn't lo...

Feels like it's time to sell and go away.
It's crazy to me how posters like this come out of the woodwork after a few rough days.

Either stay the course, or don't. Have some fortitude.

Re: John Bogle has died at age 89

The man helped countless people with his financial strategies and literally changed the industry to help the 'little guys'.

He's a hero. RIP.

Re: U.S. stocks in free fall

I'm going to sound very condescending here - but days like today remind me how how skittish and, frankly, foolish most personal investors seem to be. People follow the sensationalized news articles (WORST DECEMBER IN FOREVER, SELL SELL SELL) and end up shooting themselves in the foot. It's incredibl...

Re: U.S. stocks in free fall

How are you guys feeling? I am considering lightening up on equities - this may be going much much lower. A core principle of my investing plan is that I have no talent for market timing. Why do you think you do? Something is different this time. I can't quite put my finger on it. This one seems re...

Re: Requesting help deciding between HRA and HSA

1) Based on what you have provided, on the HSA it appears as the only way you'd blow through deductible to the Max-out-of-pocket is if you needed some very expensive drugs. Because after $2,000 (in-network individual deductible) appears all medical care is 100% covered. 2) To confirm the above I wo...

Requesting help deciding between HRA and HSA

Hello, So I just stared at a new company, and I've been tasked with deciding between two healthcare different plans. I ask for this forum's help because, at least in my limited experience, this seems to be a pretty unique situation. The plans have identical premiums - $87 bi-weekly. I'm a generally ...

Re: Schwab Vs. Vanguard?

What are your thoughts on both companies' Target Date Retirement Funds? I'm a novice investor compared to most of you guys, just getting started and prefer the simplicity of the target date funds until I get a substantial foothold established. But anyway, I have my Roth IRA in VFFVX (let's say about...

Re: Opinions: Roth IRA at Wealthfront - Switch to Vanguard?

If you contributed 11K in 2015, was that for tax year 2014 and 2015? The 2016 tax year started in Jan 2016. Assuming you have not yet contributed for tax year 2016, you could open a Vanguard Roth IRA now and contribute for tax year 2016. Contribute for tax year 2017 after Jan 01, 2017. In 2 months,...

Opinions: Roth IRA at Wealthfront - Switch to Vanguard?

Hey everyone - first time posting here, have been lurking for a while and picking up tips from you all. Thanks in advance for any suggestions and/or help! So I have a Roth IRA that I started in 2015 with $11,000 net deposits at Wealthfront. I'm at an "8" on the risk scale, which sets my portfolio up...
