Re: Has anyone see an inheritance not go as planned? I would like to hear stories from others of what can go wrong.
A couple cases within my family stick out. A cousin at 18 y/o gains access to their trust fund. You can guess how it goes when an already troubled teen comes into money and doesn't have a sound support system surrounding them. A lot of unnecessary purchases, drugs, arrests, etc.. My great grandmothe...

Re: Considering relocation to Connecticut, seeking general relo advice
I would suggest spending some time in the "Connecticut" sub forum on city-data.com. This type of question is asked at least weekly and there is a lot of good information already posted and forum members are always willing to assist with town recommendations and feedback based on your budge...

Re: Refinance Mega Thread
Submitted online application to AIM on 4/15 and closed on 5/13. Was suppose to close on 5/11, but the title company had difficulties finding a lawyer in my State (CT). Was a bit surprised how fast AIM pushed through the process.

Re: Refinance Mega Thread
In my previous refi's years back I used a lawyer at closing. These days mobile notaries appear to be the trend. I'll be closing at the end of May with AIM and the loan approval doc that I just received is in order without errors. Any concerns going the mobile notary route? Appears most posters in th...

Re: Refinance Mega Thread
I locked last night with AIM 30yr 3.25% with $90 lender fee - I'll be coming down from 4.125% and 10 months into a 30yr. They are providing a credit for appraisal as I was able to have the appraisal waived. Was waiting for 3.125% with no/low fee but over the long haul the difference between 3.125 vs...

I have a Liberty safe w/90 minute fire protection certification and important documents are kept inside using fire resistant pockets for added protection against heat.

Re: Buying expensive TVs online
I have a couple OLED's which I bought locally. The price is the same from authorized dealers so it was easier to run down to the local store and not have to wait or deal with shipping - especially if there are any future warranty claims.

Re: Buying a Smoker
I also use a WSM which runs circles around my friend's Brinkmann in terms of heat & cook consistency and fuel usage. Been drooling over Green Mountain Grills (GMG) for several years now, but been reluctant to spend that much. As life has been busier and busier the lure of a pellet smoker has bee...

Re: Anyone have a GMC Acadia? Or similar?
Wife has a '19 Acadia as a work vehicle which so far has been problem free (only 11k miles). The latest generation is smaller than the previous one. Her previous car was a '18 Ford Flex, she prefers the Acadia a lot more.

From your original list though, I would get the Audi. However the RS7 has a torque converted automatic. The S7 is the one with the dual clutch. I'd take a dual clutch over a slushbox any day, especially if you're coming from driving a manual transmission, and the dual clutch in the VW/Audi's are ex...

I work for a Swiss company here in the States and several years ago considered a permanent relocation offer to HQ in Zurich. Make sure you work with HR to review projected cost of health insurance, pension, canton taxes, etc. and if they provide any subsidy for expat tax preparation. Hopefully the c...

Take the MSF course.
Buy and wear all the proper riding gear.
Ride your ride and within your means.
Find a well run local track day organization; allows you to continue to gain skillsets without dangers of the street.
SV650 tends to be a highly recommended multi-usage bike.

If you have a Nordstroms local go get fitted and see what the tailor has to say about your friend. Their semi annual men's sale is right around Father's Day and brands such as Hugo Boss can be had for approx. 50% off. I have a 10+" difference between my chest and waist and the tailor does wonde...

Re: Anyone interested in a cheap form of motor racing?
I expect these are a lot of fun and that cost is very low. I looked into getting a kart for my son some years ago and went to a race up at NHMS to ask around and check things out. But these were more $2500 used, $6000 new karts. They'd weigh in, change the added weights on the kart to get to an ide...
