Decided to change from 3 fund to TDF...do I do this now or wait for the market to recover?

Hi all. Wife and I are both 35. I'm planning on moving over to the target date funds offered in my 401K. They are vanguard institutional funds with a .06% ER so I'm liking the idea of just putting money in and forgetting about it. I'm currently at a 90/10 AA, but think I would like to set myself in ...

Re: Where can I find the visual for vanguard glide path TDF?

yes thank you! Also, if I'm looking for about 30% bonds, do I just pick the 2030 fund for now, and then once 2030 comes and I want the same bond percentage, do i just swap this out for the 2040 fund so my stock exposure doesn't reduce too much?

Where can I find the visual for vanguard glide path TDF?

Hi all. If i remember correctly before on the vanguard website, they had a visual where they would show you the glide path for the different target date funds so you knew when stocks would start reducing over time. However, I can no longer find that visual on their website for each target fund. Can ...

If all of my retirement savings were in tax-advantaged accounts and I had access to inexpensive Vanguard funds, I would use Target Retirement funds without hesitation as my first choice. I love the simplicity. No rebalancing, just add money and be done. You don't have to think about anything or mak...

Re: Moving from 3 fund to Target Fund...does this seem foolish?

Thanks everyone for the responses. I know this is a verrrry long delay in reply. I've stuck with the 3 fund concept within my 401K, but have all equities in both our Roths, along with some stock/bond in my wife's SEP IRA. Re: On pace to Max 401K: Do we focus on Roth or wife's SEP IRA?

The top of the 12% bracket is $105k adjusted gross income for a couple Married Filing Jointly, so perhaps we can aim for that as a target to reach. ($80250 taxable income + $24800 standard deduction = $105,050). As to why this is desirable -- it means that the Roth IRA contributions you make / will...

To be equivalent, shouldn't you add the $15385 to the 4% already being contributed? It's replacing the Roth IRAs, right? Right, that's correct. If $15385 is replacing the Roth IRAs and 4% which is $5.5k is also being contributed, the OP can maximize the 401k space fully. I didn't realize that. So t...
