At this level of wealth it’s easy to get lost in the commas and zeroes, especially when fees are discussed as percentages rather than dollars. 0.4%, not bad but on $30M that’s $120k/yr. That would put 4+ kids through State U or fund a Habitat for Humanity house, every year. It matters.

Seems inline. Our college age son (at the time) had back to back fender benders. Knocked us out of underwriting guidelines for primary carrier, USAA. Was referred to and opened umbrella policy with USLI. ~$500/yr/$1M premium. So $1,600/yr/$3M appears reasonable.

401ks have a few legal protections that TIRAs do not, which is one downside of TIRAs. The formula I used was to put the balance into money market funds until it exceeded one year's family out-of-pocket max; then, any balance in excess was invested in funds to match my overall AA.
