Re: Insurance Co. Request to sign Policy Cancellation

It's a legal/risk issue with the company that's why they want a signature. If you don't feel comfortable signing their cancellation form sent them a certified letter signed with your intent instead. I, your name am requesting cancellation of policies : list policy/account numbers to be effective da...

Re: Insurance Co. Request to sign Policy Cancellation

I'd sign the request. OP, do you see some downside to signing it? Probably just natural and understandable suspicion on the motives and incentives of the company. Exactly...here’s the release verbiage. The undersigned agrees that: -The above referenced policy is lost, destroyed or being retained. (...

Insurance Co. Request to sign Policy Cancellation

I shut down my small consulting LLC a few months ago and emailed my insurance company that I would not be renewing the commercial general, auto and umbrella liability policy after receiving a recent invoice. I thought that would be the end of it, especially when they didn’t get any funds by the dead...

Re: My shrub tree dying?

+1 on contacting your local agricultural extension office. Could be a new pest Laurel wilt (Raffaelea lauricola). Laurel wilt is known to occur from Texas to North Carolina, south through Florida and north to Kentucky. As many as 300 million redbay trees, a third of the population, have been killed ...

Re: Bathtub Mat Recommendation

I have found a couple of teak shower mats work great in my shower...not a tub, but you could check Amazon to see if you can find correct size that fits your needs. Hmm... It appears on Amazon (also searching google images) that the wood "shower mats" (teak and bamboo) are made to be used ...

Here is an article you may find helpful. Lowes may have better extended warranty than Sears or others.

Re: Refrigerator Advice

I purchased the LG LFXS26973S from Lowes about 6 months ago and paid for the extended warranty...a fridge is just about the only thing I will spring for a warranty on and Lowes was best deal. I am happy with it so far. The filters are also a little less expensive than the ones on my last model. This...

Re: Home Security System Monitoring

Thanks for this money saving tip. Nevr heard of Alarm Relay either. Timely topic for me. I am looking into upgrading an old hard wired home alarm system after my contractor failed to wire up sensors on new doors and windows. Is anyone using Alarm Relay's hardware products or have suggestions for a g...

It's a bit clunky but the MSN Money web query still works for some versions of Excel. I've used it on Excel 2007. I cannot vouch for its security.

Here's the deal. Any suggestions? Any internet ways to do this cheap or for free? VOIP.ms - 85 cents a month for the number + 1 cent a minute +1 ...or callcentric.com is another inexpensive option. With these VOIP services you get so many options for how to handle calls. Setup may be easier with th...

+1 for thewirecutter.com and its sister website thesweethome.com

Personally I dont think cnet could be considered best. They are known malware distributors and not exactly unbiased. Search for the Dish Network Hopper controversy. I think these issues are mentioned on the cnet wikipedia entry.

Re: Recommend a laptop and printer

I have a Brother wireless printer HL-L2340D, reviewed here and it works great for my simple B&W needs: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-cheap-printer/

Wirecutter.com also reviews laptops, but I have no input on them since I haven't bought a new one in years.

Re: 2015 Audi Q5 premium plus

I have the 2015 Q5 TDI. Bought it 3 weeks before dieselgate came out. Since it is a 3.0 liter, there is not yet a resolution so not totally sure if I will keep it. Audi had to replace both sets of front wheel bearings about 60 days in. They were making a terrible whining noise, but of course replace...

Thanks Taylor. Unfortunately, the fine is not a big enough deterrent. .. In business your reputation is everything. But big monster mega banks (Clark Howard's term of affection) already have a lousy reputation. So I don't see that this has any additional effect. Agreed. I wonder if anyone has taken...

Re: Should I replace my Samsung Galaxy S4?

I am still rocking my Galaxy S3 but GPS is getting flaky so I may be in same boat as you very soon. I'm leaning towards the Nexus 5X as jjface suggests mostly due to the security & update issues for carrier issued Androids. The Nexus 5 is already at end of life. See: http://www.androidpolice.com...

The TDAmeritrade accounts seem like you would get free trades, so make sure you get free trades, then sell them. Move the cash to Vanguard and invest right away. Hi livesoft, I don't mean to hijack OPs thread but I am in similar situation and need to move some holdings from TDAmeritrade to Vanguard...
