Really pleased with Walmart pickup. We scheduled it - parked in the designated spot - person was waiting - loaded up our trunk and closed it - we drove off - no interaction at all. All groceries were present unlike delivery where many couldn't be fulfilled.

I wanted to get NEST alarms - however since I have 8 alarms that I had to replace - I couldn't stomach buying 8 NEST. You cannot mix and match NEST w/o other non NEST alarms - at least if you want to stay compliant. I went with all First Alert - couple combo fire/mono - kitchen area and main hallway.

I could probably come up with 11 reasons why I'm happy that I have no mortgage, no credit card debt etc. Because of that I was able to save and reach my goals - while having a mortgage previously - I was going nowhere.

I would ask them to purchase it for pre-repair value, minus the value of any work you had them about to perform (seems fair) Why would they do that when they have insurance most likely? Their insurance should take care of the damage - we are talking about a 2006 car here and not a 911 or collectors...

I just did this and happy that I did. I have 8 wired detectors - and used photo combo (carbon m/fire) kitchen and living room - and the other type all other rooms. All the same brand and all compatibable. Knock on wood - no more false alarms in the kitchen.

Absent big remodels, under Prop 13, you and your dad's CA property taxes surely increased by the same percentage. Not sure what you mean about prop13 not helping you? Home appraisals are generally for loan purposes. Is it possible your brothers are taking a loan on the house?
