Yes, Washington State because of the income tax. I am coming from a low tax state.

Vanguard was first a mutual fund company. They later added brokerage accounts. With vanguard you would need to open these accounts separately. With schwab you would open a brokerage account, and hold all of your assets in the one account. I don't know about fees and minimums at the two companies.
