James, I implemented a similar strategy as I got myself into a Guardian WL policy that I have been overfunding. To echo an earlier comment technically Guardian has approx. 6 month before they need to issue a payment, although more than likely it would be 2 weeks. My Emergency Fund = 9 months of living expenses, tier 1 (3 months of cash reserves) / tier 2 (WL + short term Muni) / tier 3 (Interm-muni ) Cash in High Interest Savings (GSachs Bank) WL Cash Value: Guardian Vanguard Short-Term Tax-Exempt Fund Vanguard Intermediate-Term Tax-Exempt Fund Investor Shares As my cash value builds up I will probably reduce intermediate term muni allocation although I'll never touch the 3 months of cash sitting in a high interest saving account.
