Re: ETF / NAV / Underlying stocks question

What if the underlying price of the asset (stock) is under / over priced? Who determines the price? Is it based on the current market value?

Re: How to value an ETF

Thank you all for your input BH-ers.

To clarify a little bit. I just want to know more on how ETFs are valued, I am not looking at timing the market.

I'll take a look at The ETF book for more insights.

How to value an ETF

I have been wondering how to value the price of an ETF for a while, but have not been able to find any resources. Benjamin Gram has an Intrinsic Value formula. Some value investors use these kind of formulas to check whether to buy a stock taking into consideration the margin of safety they want.. D...

Re: Career planning in IT/software development when over 40

Have you given any thought on a career in Business Analysis? I am a software engineer myself (15 years) and i'm aiming for a 50-50 engineering / BA role at my current employer. For me it gives me a balance of working with people, getting to know business domains and also working on the technical pa...

Re: Can non US citizen create corporation in US to invest in vanguard

Non Resident Aliens usually do not want to own US assets in their own name for income and estate tax reasons. One way it's commonly done is the NRA creates a non US holding company. The holding company owns the US assets. The NRA only owns the shares of the holding company and does not directly own...

Re: TD Ameritrade fund replacement

I did a quick analysis of VTI vs SPTM. SPTM: ER: 0.03% Div. yield: 1.59% VTI: ER: 0.04% Div. yield: 1.68% Investing $100 monthly. SPTM: 100*0.9997*1.0159=101.559523 VTI: 100*0.9996*1.0168=101.639328 With VTI you get 8cents more, excluding the $6.95 ETF purchase price. Investing $1000 monthly. SPTM: ...

Re: Fellow TDA bogleheads

The new list is on their site. VTI is still included in the commission free ETFs. If they remove this ETF, I will contact them and let them know how displeasured I am. This coming from a NRA. VTI and the other Vanguard funds will be removed after November 20. They're sending out email notices to cu...

Thank you for all the input.
Let's hope the Estate Tax exception is also increased to 5M for NRA one day.

Re: Which broker should I choose?

Unless there are very good reasons why you wish to continue holding US ETFs, you might as well switch to IB and get rid of the specter of US Estate Tax. I also had an account with TDAmeritrade until I learnt recently about liability to US Estate Tax. Besides, if you need cash and you are fully 100%...

Re: VUSD vs VOO [Vanguard S&P 500, Ireland vs. US]

I was wondering if there are any consequences to the value of a portfolio with VUSD with regard to any currency changes since the ETF is listed on the London Exchange. Hope someone can shed some light on this matter.

Re: Non-Resident Alien investor – Portfolio review/some questions! (Argentina + Germany)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont think that TD Ameritrade sells Irish domiciled ETFs. There are only stocks / ETFs on the US stock exchanges.

Also consider that there are a lot of commission free Vanguard ETFs on TD Ameritrade such as VTI, VOO etc.

I am a NRA also.
